Who says the garden starts winding down after July?

Sharon’s taking us on a whirlwind tour of some of the stars of late Summer, from spectacular dahlias and elegant echinacea to cheerful chrysanthemums, vibrant red hot pokers and beautiful roses. There’s still so much colour, texture and inspiration to enjoy in the garden.

Looking for a planter that can cope with hot, dry weather?

This drought-tolerant combination of Limonium ‘Salt Lake’, Lavandula, Santolina and Begonia is made for sunny spots. Finish it with a layer of pea gravel over the compost to help lock in moisture, reduce evaporation and give it a smart, Mediterranean look.

Once established, this planter should only need watering around once a week in normal Summer conditions. During heatwaves, it’s still worth checking the compost more regularly, but these plants are wonderfully resilient.

A beautiful display with less watering – perfect for long, sunny days.
