I love doing repairs and diagnostics on electric ovens.
This is on an oven I cleaned about 3 weeks ago and the grill element has decided it’s time to stop working properly.
The grill element has 2 independent circuits, it has an outer and an inner circuit. The inner circuit heats up fine, glows lovely but the outer only has a hint of a glow on one side.
Tested both parts and the outer is showing a resistance of 3 ohms which is definitely low enough to cause issues and needs to be replaced as it’s already tripped the electrics a few times.
From new they would be about 53 ohms and 32 ohms for each respective circuit
To look at the element externally it looks in good condition, nothing at all to suggest it has any issues, alas, the issue is internal on this element.
New element has been ordered and will be fitted very soon!
