For the best possible reason ever, I've decided it's time to close the AMC Guitars workshop.
This business has given me the platform to launch a full time career in guitar distribution and manufacturing. Once the two overlapped, coupled with the birth of my daughter, the workshop is no longer getting the time or investment it needs.
I want to thank my amazing clients I've grown to know over the years. You have all been wonderful.

If you still need any guitar work doing, I can highly recommend Mike Smith Guitars in Southport, a guy with decades of experience, or Sound affects in Ormskirk.

Some deep dive.

Most factory fresh guitar frets aren't leveled and polished by hand. They'll be leveled by a machine, crowned and then taken straight to a buffer. You'll notice on the right fret hete, the scratches are horizontal, indicating that these happened during the leveling process, when the leveling goes down the neck from bridge to nut. This is why most new guitar frets feel scratchy. You're bending ACROSS those scratches. On the left, we have a 4 stage polished fret from 800-1800 grit. Whilst not perfect (no Dremel involved and no levelling) the polishing was done VERTICALLY. That way, when you bend the strings you're bending WITH the scratches, not against them.

Loft/Attic finds seems to be the theme this week. The sunburst strat had spent over 20 years in a loft.
For those who ask, Ernie Ball are the only strings I love to use!

Hi all!
Just a quick announcement that AMC Guitars will be closed week commencing the 6th October for 1 week. Any jobs on now will be completed before that date but I am unable to take on any new jobs until the shop reopens on 13th October.

This one turned out STUNNING! From Tele to Esquire.

A new Mexican Tele came to me in a dull, off white finish. We stripped that off, applied a new custom colour, made that grain pop and gave it a light relic.
Add in an Eldridge cocked wah wiring loom mod, a kick ass Brad Paisley pickup, and this one is officially one of my finest projects.
Thanks to Ed for the trust and patience with this one. Truly stunning.

I did a thing.

Things are happening here at AMC Guitars.
Please bare with me during this transition BACK into the workshop and thanks to my lovely customers for your patience. The workshop will be open towards the middle of next week.
Custom builds are coming.
And the thing I'm most excited about....AMC Hotrodz. Bringing back that 80s workshop vibe made famous by the likes of Jackson and Schecter, pretty soon you'll be able to hotrod a guitar you own, with an AMC twist.
