WHATS HAPPENING ON THE FLOWER FIELD ~ well lots! always a busy place during the summer months, with brunch clubs, drop in workshops and pick your own, it’s time to rejoice the flowery season and enjoy the outdoors while we have glorious weather .. mind you, a bit too hot sometimes, but we do like to complain! 😉 All activities are on the website if you would like to come and enjoy a lovely brunch or fancy a flower club session .. ‘drop in’ workshop & pick your own - just turn up, no booking needed and FREE ENTRY

🤍 MONDAY ~ and a new week! this weekend and last week had been a busy one, weddings, brunches and just general PYO visitors and then on top of that, late nights to coordinate the complete change over at our sister shop Mobbs & Daughters Southwold from general lifestyle to baby & child lifestyle.. today is admin day for me and my chance to make sure we are organised for this week ahead and the paperwork is in order.

Running your own business can be at time exhausting, a 6 or 7 working day week is the norm if your business is a seasonal one, but things will be changing soon, let’s say ‘ structural modifications’ are ahead 😉

🌸 JAM JARS ON THE WORK BENCH YESTERDAY ~ our popular little jars of seasonal blooms, you can either pick your own, or buy ready made - there’s something so timeless about the jam jar of flowers, when I started way back in 2013 , they were a popular wedding table arrangements, brides would dress them with hessian and jute string and create from diy buckets. You really can’t find a better use for a jam jar 🩷

🌸 ANNOUNCEMENT ~ we have had 2 cancellations for our botanical art workshop this Saturday with Mickey Partridge , so if you fancy a little creativity this weekend please book by tapping the shopping icon !

🌸 AUGUST ~ has been challenging keeping the field alive, last year when I decided to ditch the poly tunnel and concentrate on a natural meadow suitable for not only cut flowers but more tolerant varieties that can cope with drought , I must have had some kind of premonition 😉… wow! I can’t remember the last time we had rain, but it’s just not the lack of rain that’s the issue, it’s the relentless sun and heat as well.

🌸 yes we are very grateful for our bore hole , but on the whole the field is looking spectacular in this scorcher of a summer.. there’s no doubt I will continue to flower farm this way moving forward 😀

🌸 there’s no reason why we shouldn’t change and adapt, embrace it and don’t be frightened to find new ways to evolve 🫶🏻

🎉 HAPPY 15TH BIRTHDAY 🎈 TO STEVE !

As you know Steve has been in many pictures over the years and frequented the grid on a regular basis, but this is my favourite - he is in semi retirement at the moment, and I know you all like his greetings when you come to the farm, but the school summer holidays are a bit much for him these days, so he’s home during this busy time , but hoping to be back in the autumn 🍂

A little walk this evening round Southwold common will satisfy him and of course lots of naps !

🌸 CREATE YOUR OWN BRIDAL BOUQUETS ~ another lovely group arrived at the farm this week to pick and design their own bouquets for the wedding.

Sammy came with her bridesmaids and one trusted chap to create for a bridesmaid who couldn’t make it! they all had a lovely time choosing their own blooms and with a little guidance by myself they created a bouquet for themselves that are completely unique to them.

Such a relaxed group and this is something we are seeing more of this year … a new trend possibly? but certainly only suits the most relaxed brides that are happy to go with the flow and what the field offers at that that time .. well done ladies and gent, they are beautiful and we hope you all had a wonderful weekend x
