Exactly a year ago today on the 14th September 2025, I welcomed customers into the shop for the very first time and it was probably one of the most surreal days of my life! 🤣

The day before I was still frantically pricing stock, practising how to make coffees and trying to make everything perfect for opening day. The night before I got sent home to get some sleep whilst my Dad, Brother and Sister-in-Law Lauren (who all the regulars now know!) worked into the night putting up tables and getting everything set up! 😅

That day is one that I’ll never forget! I was equal parts excited and terrified… excited to finally get the shop open and terrified that no one would show up! 🥴

….BUT YOU SHOWED UP!! 🤩 I will always remember the very first customers that walked through the door that day and I’m so grateful to everyone who has supported my business over the last year! 💜

So this weekend we’re having a proper celebration because this is a milestone that I’m really proud of. It’s also an opportunity for me to show my appreciation to all the families that make my dream of running this shop possible (cheese, I know! 🫣) So please come on down, there’ll be cakes, balloons, freebies and even a lucky dip!!

Tomorrow it’s officially the shops 1st birthday and let me tell you… this time last year I was absolutely not having the relaxing weekend that I’m having now! 😅

So I’m celebrating the official shop birthday by being closed (because it’s a monday and I’m having a weekend away! 🤣) but we’re having a party next weekend… and you’re invited! 🤩

18th, 19th & 20th September, 10am until 3pm! Be there or be square! 😎

If you haven’t had chance to visit us at Pen & Pearl Studio in Hebden Bridge yet, here’s a little peek at some of the goodies that are available to order from our menu!

We’ve got an extensive drinks menu including everything from coffees to hot chocolates, Chai, a selection of teas and we’ve recently added milkshakes! Our Milkshakes can be made completely dairy-free and are made using an award winning ice-cream!

We also serve our ice-cream on ‘build your own’ boards so that little ones can choose their own toppings and make their own ice cream creations! We’ve got 3 flavours, 10 different toppings and 4 sauces to choose from so there’s guaranteed to be a flavour combination that everyone will love!

If you’re feeling a little pick peckish, we serve different varieties of toast with your choice of toppings. We also have a selection of fresh cakes & pastries available daily… you’ve got to be quick with these though, they sell out fast! 🤩

….and if that wasn’t enough, we always have a selection of snacks available because who doesn’t love a bag of pombears! 🤭

Wow, what a month it’s been!! I’m not going to lie, I was a bit nervous going into the Summer that the shop would be quiet because thats been the case for all the other school holidays but oh boy, was I wrong!! 😅

August has been the best month of the year so far from a business POV and I’m so grateful to everyone who has visited us and kept us so busy even on those scorching hot days! 🥵

We launched our ‘build your own’ Ice Cream boards and they have been a complete hit!! I love seeing what combination of toppings you all choose and don’t worry… they’re here to stay even in winter so your little ones can still get their ice cream fix! 🤭

I made a window display for Pride and showcased all of my Pen & Pearl Gifts | Colourful Keepsakes for Little Ones! rainbow coloured ‘all you need is love’ wooden signs and they sold out!! 😍

We’ve managed to squeeze in some lovely days out over the summer holidays! It’s such a privilege to be able to spend so much time with my baby and have a job that allows me to be flexible with childcare! 🥰

We’ve had some fab events running over the holidays including another visit from Walk on the Wild Side and two summer special classes with Angela from Sing & Sign! It was really nice to welcome so many new families into the shop!

At the beginning of this month we launched our new menu with fresh bread (for toast) and pastries from Rogers Bakery! To say this has been popular would be an understatement… the pastries normally sell out within an hour or so!! 🤯

We’ve had some gorgeous fan mail! 🤩 Never underestimate the power of a children’s drawing saying they love your shop after having a bad day dealing with HMRC! 😬 I think I actually shed a tear when I walked into the shop and saw these!

I’ve had my little helper in the shop with me quite a bit over the summer holidays… she’s consumed a lot of marshmallows, smoothies and ice cream! And when I showed her that the postage labels were stickers she lost her mind! 🤣

We finished the month off with a visit from my lovely friends, the best gang and my biggest cheerleaders from day one! 💜

I absolutely love my job… but there’s still stuff that needs to be done that I don’t enjoy! 🤭

I missed out the part where I’m rubbish at replying to messages and emails! That probably needs slotting in at around 4/10! 🫣

Spend the day with me at my gift shop in Hebden Bridge (disclaimer…. this was absolutely not filmed today because I would have melted wearing that outfit in 34 degree heat! 🥵)

I thought I’d better post this video before it’s completely out of date because I filmed it weeks ago now! 🥴 I put the new menu out last weekend and it’s gone down a treat! I think I actually made more milkshakes today than I did coffees! 🤭🤩

Hope everyone is surviving in this heat… you know where to come if you need ice creams or milkshakes tomorrow and over the weekend! 😉

Is anyone else hot?! 🥵

Seen as though the weather is forecast to be over 30 degrees tomorrow, I thought it was the perfect time to tell you that we’ve started serving ice cream!! We soft launched our brand new menu last week and it’s gone down a treat (no pun intended) 🤩

After much deliberation, we’ve decided to serve a range of award winning, plant based ice creams from 🍦

We did many taste tests and all agreed that the plant based ice creams tasted as good (if not better) than the dairy version and if you don’t believe me… I guess you’ll have to come try it out for yourself!

We’ve got three ice cream flavours to choose from and we’re serving them up on a ‘DIY board’ so you can build your ice cream exactly how you like it! We’ve got a plethora of toppings to choose from (10 toppings and 4 sauces) so which will you choose?

Our ‘build your own’ ice cream board got top marks from one adorable customer today when they brought me the empty board back and said ‘I didn’t just like it, I loved it’ ...if that isn’t a rave review, then I don’t know what it! 😂🤣

We’ve got an exciting visit coming up with Walk on the Wild Side - animal encounters and there’s still a few tickets left!! Bring your little ones along and let them learn all about the animals… and if they’re feeling brave, they can hold them too! 😳🤭🐍
