On Fridays we look at an old book from my collection (or elsewhere) and take a peek under the cover to discover some of the beautiful details, personal notes, and other fun insights about the secret life of old books.

▫️Author: Winston Churchill (American author, not the British PM)
▪️Publisher: The Macmillan Company
▫️Copyright Date: 1903
▪️Size: 7" Tall x 4-3/8" Wide x 1" Thick
▫️Style & Condition: Canvas Hardcover with a broken binding and a few key pieces of seam tape holding it together.

Notes:
▪️ An old library discard, this poor binding has seen better days. But what a beautiful cover, and end papers as well!
▫️ Historical fiction about the western expansion of the US and the settlement of Kentucky
▪️ Not usually the kind of book I would pick up for personal reading, but many of my vintage books were definitely picked up to preserve a beautiful cover.
▫️ Did you know there were both an American and British Winston Churchill's?

When I stayed in Charleston in March/April of this year I really fell in love with it. A big part of that was the people I met, especially the amazing stitch club ladies! Fast forward to now, and meeting those great people was worth it because I ended up moving here full time 😊

This is my first finished patch for my 2022 nomad tote, more to come!

A week ago I flew up to NJ to finally see two of my dear friends get married. Third times the charm for a Covid time wedding 🥂

I knew I wanted to make them something special, and I almost did an ornament or pillow… but then I saw the new cozies and knew that would be a perfect gift for an adventurous couple.

I found out the wedding party colors and did one monogram in that, and then another in a slightly darker tone so they could be told apart.

It’s always so lovely being able to make handmade memories for friends. What a beautiful weekend for a fantastic couple. All the best you two ❤️❤️❤️

When I was staying in Durham, NC, a lot of the reason was to be around family. My cousin in particular loves there and teaches at DA. I saw this pennant at and thought of her. I was originally going to make her a glasses case, but then I found a good pouch and decided to make it a patch and add it onto a pencil pouch. Her birthday is right around the beginning of school so it’s a perfect back-to-school themed present!

When she was helping me move she already saw this so I don’t have to hide it 😂 I’m not showing the pouch part yet though, gotta keep something a surprise!

Cheers to my cousin being the best and her agreeing to forget she ever saw this until September 😉

Now that I have revealed the finished 2021 Nomad tote, let’s go back and dive into the details on some of the latest finishes.

First up: my Louisville round. I had such a fun time in Louisville and know I will be returning in the future to meet up with the friends I made there. I highly recommend a trip to bourbon country if you haven’t been!
