WE’RE CLOSING THE SHOP
It is with deep regret that I have to announce that the Vinyl Revival Store record shop in Buckden will be soon be closing down at the end of the year.
The shop will be closed 1st September until 12th October. During that time we will also close our Discogs store and will be unable to process orders from our website
We will then reopen for a couple of months, before closing the door for the last time on 18th December. We will continue to sell online through the website and Discogs, but the bricks and mortar store will be no more.
This has not been an easy decision, but unfortunately the number of customers visiting the shop has steadily fallen since Record Store Day and sales of new vinyl records have dried up completely.
We had a great Record Store Day this year, but of the hundreds of people who came to the that weekend only a handful have visited since.
Without a steady volume of new vinyl sales throughout the year will not be able to participate in Record Day next year, as we cannot meet the criteria set by the organisers, and we cannot expect suppliers to allocate stock to us if they haven’t seen any orders from us during the year.
I understand why you may prefer the convenience of buying online, and often at a lower price than we can offer, and to order direct from artists web sites. But to cater to people who only visit our shop once a year, and then only because they can’t buy the record online, is not sustainable business model.
