Ever so pretty, antique sewing table.
Such a useful size and height also as a bedside cabinet or beside an armchair or even in the hall.
The top section lifts off, there are lots of drawers and an extra pull-out work surface. As well as the main silk-covered storage area which slides open. Lovely original handles and k***s.

A characterful oil on board of a French autumnal scene.
I loved depiction of the characters on the bridge and the painting style overall.

A large and theatrical oil on canvas in original gilt frame.
This is the second of a collection of three paintings by Viscountess Joan Buckmaster (1897-1976) that I was lucky to find and be able to buy recently.
Joan was a member of the Society of Women Artists.
Her work was exhibited at the Royal Institute Galleries, Piccadilly.
I was struck by the theatrical nature of her work, the colours and the way she painted textiles and reflections.
The painting with cherubs on my post from a few days ago is the first of the three paintings I have, with another to follow, or come and view them all in the shop tomorrow (10-5).

A collection of 8 old shop display tins, all with glass topped hinged lids.
Old labels remain on the sides and the red and white stripes are fab!
The tins would have displayed packets of crackers and biscuits.
They are old and rusted and it somehow makes them even more atmospheric. These would make a wonderful display.

I found something unusual whilst I was on the road.
This is an antique mahogany box, looks to be adapted from something, removed from something else (or has had something removed from it), well-used and repaired.

There is a hand-painted pentacle to the front in gold, the star filled in red paint, although over time it has faded.
Along the top of the box is the alphabet from A-Z, with a question mark at the end.
Lettering has been painted in red, black and gold.
Over use and time the lettering has faded like the pentacle, but is still clearly visible.

It looks like this box has been adapted for ritual use, there is a space for storing items inside, and what appears to be an improvised spirit/Ouija board on the top.

This piece has such a feeling to it, it’s one for you if you are interested in magical practice.
