The last few months have been really difficult work wise. Life got busy. Sales were low. Motivation and creativity hit rock bottom. So i just pottered. I kept up with the basics, filling shelves with trinkets that sell and trying lots of new things. I had done a lampwork coarse last year which I had not done much with despite really enjoying it so I jumped back into that and finally managed to get some decent beads coming out of the kiln. Yay! Wow it is so difficult and I have so much to learn but it is super difficult learning on your own sometimes.
I also picked up my paint brushes again (it has been a while) and started, seriously, to learn watercolours. All other types of paints no problem. Getting the watercolours how i want them another really big learning curve. But I am loving it. I invested in some lovely paints from my neighbour in Easton Walled Gardens, definitely worth checking out his amazing shop. I am really pleased with some of my pictures....others, well I am still learning. I might even post the few I am happy with.
So despite not producing much in the way of new work I have been busy creating in new ways.
Next week is the start September and that means Northants and Rutland Open Studios. The sunflowers are one if my 2 pieces going up and others will be exhibited at Stamford Arts Center and

Back at Barnsdale Gardens in Rutland. I do love it here. Now that the rush to get here and get set up my Fused Glass is over I can enjoy a lovely calm, crafty day. I have finally caught up with restocking my Suncatchers, Coasters and Cards after the preparations and set up at Corby Glens Willoughby Memorial Trust Gallery so now I can concentrate on the 2 commissions I have. (Plus the many ideas I have scrambling around in my head) I love a good making day!

I was worried about opening the kiln this morning. I had been worried about the firing schedule. Half way through firing I realised that I had not added my 'extra' time. Fused Glass Vase of Flowers.

I was worried about opening the kiln this morning thinking that I had messed up the firing schedule. Half way through firing I realised that I had not added my 'extra' time. In theory the schedule set should have been fine but I do like to err on the side of caution and go a little bit slower and a little bit longer. So I had all of my fingers and toes crossed when I opened up my kiln this morning. This is the second piece of 3 that I want to do so I had better get outside to my shed and get back to work. I am going to fire the first half of my sunflowers later hopefully. 😬
