Let’s clear up some common misconceptions people have when ordering wedding flowers.

1. Pinterest is a great tool for helping to visualise and curate your aesthetic. But it’s important to remember it’s not reality. Many photos have been edited or don’t include real flowers.

2. When comparing quotes from different florists. Ask them what grade of flower they use as cheaper blooms may be a false economy when considering stem life and quality of the flower itself.

3. Whilst obviously the number of guests may increase the price (ie more tables, more table flowers etc). There are other factors to take into account like the choice of flowers, season, complexity of design etc. which is why it’s always a good idea to discuss with your florist how best to use your budget.

4. Requesting extra bridesmaid bouquets to use as table centres isn’t the best use of your budget. As florists use premium and special varieties of flowers for the bridal party flowers as these bouquets are made to be held, and photographed.

I am so excited to share these beautiful images with you. When Perry and Jan asked if I would be interested in creating the flowers for their new range of cheese towers it was a very fast yes!! And looking at the photos you can see why. How delicious do these towers look? And what a cool idea to have cheese towers instead of a wedding cake. The bridal bouquet isn’t just a normal bunch of flowers!

The florist chooses each individual bloom knowing it is likely to be photographed from every angle and held for several hours by the bride.

So the flowers need to be of a premium quality to withstand this and still look beautiful! As well as including several special varieties of flowers in the bouquet.

The bouquet is meant to be photographed, held and remembered for many years to come so only the best blooms will do!

3 important lessons I have learnt from doing wedding flowers:
1. Sometimes I might not be the best fit for your wedding and it’s better to be open about this so you can find the right florist for your vision.

2. Lean into your florists experience and knowledge about what does and doesn’t work. They have done hundreds of weddings so usually know what they are talking about!

3. Being honest about the unpredictability of flowers! You will try your best to include a certain flower but sometimes that flower might have had a very short or poor season so including that peony for the sake of it being your favourite flower when it’s looking very sad is not always the best decision!
