🚗 It’s not just about the vehicles… there’s plenty more to enjoy!

The Ilkeston Heritage & Classic Vehicle Show returns this Sunday (9 August), and while the amazing display of classic cars, motorcycles, military vehicles and vintage transport will be a huge attraction, there’s lots more happening around the town too.

🎨 Arts & Craft Fair
Pop into the Cantelupe Centre between 10am and 4pm to browse a variety of arts, crafts and handmade gifts. Admission is free, with light refreshments available.

🏛️ Erewash Museum
Take a break from the crowds and visit Erewash Museum, which will be open from 11am until 4pm. Explore the museum, enjoy the café, and relax in the beautiful surroundings before heading back to the show.

Along with live entertainment, community groups, food and drink, charity stalls and a scheduled Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (subject to weather and operational requirements), there’s something for all the family to enjoy.

We’ll be sharing more highlights throughout the week as we count down to one of Ilkeston’s biggest community events of the year.

🚗 ONE WEEK TO GO!

This time next week, Ilkeston town centre will be transformed as the Ilkeston Heritage & Classic Vehicle Show returns for another fantastic day out – and best of all, it's free to attend.

Whether you're a fan of classic cars, vintage buses, military vehicles or motorcycles, or simply looking for something to do with the family during the summer holidays, there'll be plenty to see and enjoy throughout the day.

As well as hundreds of vehicles on display, visitors can look forward to live entertainment, local history and heritage displays, community organisations, charity stalls, food and drink, children's attractions and a scheduled flypast by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (subject to weather and operational requirements).

Over the coming week, we'll be counting down to the event, sharing some of the highlights and everything you need to know before the big day.

It's one of Ilkeston's biggest annual community events, bringing thousands of people into the town centre each year.

I was asked if I could call by Great Shepherd acres where the kids was camping out at the stables for a weekend of pony club activities 🐎 I think the kids & adults all enjoyed their 🍦😋 i think a few of the horses & ponies did too 😆🤣

Thousands of people enjoy this free event every year ...there is so much organising that goes on behind the scenes, months of planning 😲 more safety measures have to be put in place to keep everybody safe 😳

🚗 LAST CHANCE FOR BUSINESSES TO SUPPORT ILKESTON'S HERITAGE & CLASSIC VEHICLE SHOW

With just days to go until the Ilkeston Heritage & Classic Vehicle Show, organisers are making one final appeal for local businesses to get involved.

They're currently around £2,000 short of this year's costs, and businesses that pledge their support before Thursday will have their logo included in the official show guide as a thank you.

It's easy to forget just how much goes into organising a free community event. Behind the scenes there are costs for road closures, traffic management, security, first aid, insurance, toilets, signage, licences and much more – all before the first classic vehicle even arrives.

If you're not a business but would still like to help, you can also make a donation through the event's JustGiving page. Every contribution, no matter how big or small, helps support this fantastic volunteer-run event.

The Heritage & Classic Vehicle Show returns to Ilkeston town centre on Sunday 9 August, bringing hundreds of classic vehicles and thousands of visitors into the town.

🍦 As we head into the school holidays, I just wanted to say a massive thank you ❤️ to everyone for your continued support.

To my loyal customers, the schools, colleges, workplaces and event organisers who continue to invite me back year after year – thank you. It really does mean the world to me. 😊

You might have noticed I haven't been around on my usual rounds as much over the last few weeks, but I promise I haven't been taking it easy! June and July have been unbelievably busy with school sports days, leavers' events, workplace visits and private bookings. 🏫🎉 With the recent heatwaves 🥵, I know my absence has probably been more noticeable, but I've been working hard behind the scenes and out at events.

In the last 2 weeks I've done 110 hours 😅 with no day off, and I've still got this weekend to get through before things finally start to slow down a little. Even with my dodgy knees trying to tell me to slow down! 🦵😂

Thank you to everyone who has bought an ice cream 🍦, booked the van, recommended me, shared my posts or simply stopped to say hello. Every bit of support helps keep this little local business going, and I'm incredibly grateful. ❤️
