Finished another clock! Tried using underglaze transfers for the first time and they worked pretty well. This now had pride of place on the kitchen wall.

We're back home after a fab week at Anglian Potter's Camp 2026. There's plenty of pot photos to come, but here's Saturday night's centrepiece - a bottle kiln! 🍾 🧴 🍾 🧴 🍾

This was made from several hundred empty bottles (w**e, b**r, rum, gin and a base made of ch*****ne bottles) cemented together with a clay-sawdust-sand mortar, that lit up like a stained glass window in the evening. Despite reaching temperatures over 800°c, the bottles didn't shatter, but the necks melted into weird, gloopy shapes.

On dismantling, some bottles were suitable for taking home (we nabbed a couple as keepsakes) whereas others finished as razor-sharp points, dubbed 'killer-penguins' by a fellow potter! 🐧

Oh, and we even managed to fire some pots inside too - the turquoise raku glaze looks pretty good, considering what it's gone through 😂

Finally had a bit of space in the last kiln firing to finish off this clock face. It's been sitting on the 'to complete' pile for MONTHS!

I've fitted a sweeping quartz clock mechanism as I think it looks nicer than the standard ticking one (and is also a lot quieter!) It's now living in the bathroom, where I can clearly see the time - even if I haven't got my glasses on 😂

Need to make another one for the kitchen, I have a few ideas for the design... 🐝

Only a couple of days to go until our next craft fair! We've managed to fit another kiln firing in, so there'll be even more gorgeous items than we thought.

We're more than halfway through the year, so if you're someone who's *really* organised, why not come along and start your Christmas shopping? 🎄

Well, we've finally woken from our winter hibernation and have started making again! Here's the results of yesterday's kiln firing, all ready for glazing.

We'll be bringing some of these items to our first craft fair of the year: 1pm - 4pm, Saturday 16th May at The John Clements Centre, Codicote, SG4 8XY. Hope to see many of you there!
