🧵 JUST 2 PLACES LEFT! 🧵

I’m so pleased that my Wednesday 21st and Thursday 22nd October afternoon Beginners Sewing Courses are now FULL! ❤️

That means there are now just TWO spaces remaining on my final Beginners course:

✨ Thursday 22nd October
⏰ 7pm–8.30pm
🧵 6 weeks
🏡 Small, friendly home studio in Bexhill
👩‍🏫 Maximum of just 3 learners
💷 £170 for the full 6-week course

The first two weeks are all about getting comfortable and confident using a sewing machine. Then, for the remaining four weeks, you’ll work on a project of your own choice with plenty of individual help along the way.

You don’t need any previous sewing experience and machines and materials are provided.

I would really love to have these final two places filled by 30th September, so if you’ve been thinking about learning to sew, now is the time to take the plunge!

This will also be my last 6-week Beginners course until 2027, as I’ll be turning my attention to some festive one-day workshops in the run-up to Christmas. 🎄

💬 If you could learn to make ONE thing, what would it be?

Message me to reserve one of the final two places. 🧵❤️

One bedspread… and look what it became! 🧵✂️

A client brought this fabric along to one of my sewing courses. It had started life as a double bedspread that had been sitting in her cupboard, and she decided it was time to turn it into something new.

As a complete beginner, she made this gorgeous dress — I think she did an amazing job! 💗

There was still plenty of fabric left, so I used some of it to make these matching dresses for my granddaughters… and amazingly, we’ve still got about half the bedspread left!

This is one of the things I love about sewing. Something that might otherwise sit unused in a cupboard can be transformed into clothes that are completely unique.

So I need your ideas…

What should I make with the rest of it? 🤔
A skirt? A bag? Another dress? Something for the home? Or something completely different?

Pop your ideas in the comments — I’d love to see what you come up with! ❤️

✨ From his imagination… to something he could actually wear! ✨

My grandson designed this outfit himself and then asked me if I could make it for him. ❤️

We started with his drawing, but one of the nicest parts was watching the design change and develop as we made it together. He had ideas along the way, we talked about what would work, made little changes, and gradually his picture became a real outfit.

The excitement on his face when he finally put it on was just wonderful. 🥰

For me, this is one of the things I love most about sewing. It gives children the freedom to use their imagination, express their individuality and see that an idea they have in their head really can become something they have created.

But even more special than the finished outfit was the time we spent together making it. Talking, laughing, problem-solving and creating something that was completely his. Those are the moments I’ll remember. ❤️

Who knows where a child’s imagination might take them when we give them the chance to create?

I’m so pleased to say that both my Wednesday 21st October and Thursday 22nd October afternoon Beginners Sewing courses are now fully booked. Thank you so much to everyone who has booked a place. 🧵✂️

I do still have spaces available on the Thursday 22nd October evening course at 7pm — and this will be my last 6-week Beginners Sewing course until 2027.

So, if you’ve been thinking about learning to sew, this really is your last chance to join me this year.

Over the 6 weeks you’ll learn how to use a sewing machine confidently, build your skills step by step, and then spend the final 4 weeks working on a project of your choice.

✨ Small, friendly groups — maximum 3 people
✨ 6 weeks of tuition
✨ 1½ hours each week
✨ Machines and materials provided
✨ £170 for the full course
✨ Suitable for complete beginners

After this course I’ll be getting into the festive spirit with some one-day Christmas sewing workshops during December 🎄✨

Dates and details for those will be coming soon, so keep an eye on the page.

But if you want to learn to sew properly before Christmas and head into 2027 with a brand new skill, Thursday 22nd October at 7pm is your final opportunity this year.

Message me if you’d like to secure one of the remaining places. 💛

🧵 Two places now available – Thursday afternoon Beginners Sewing Course 🧵

Thank you to everyone who voted in my recent poll. I’m delighted to say that the Thursday afternoon course is now going ahead, with one place already booked and just two places remaining.

This is a relaxed 6-week beginners sewing course, designed for people who may never have used a sewing machine before, or who would like to build their confidence.

Over the six weeks we’ll cover things such as getting to know your sewing machine, threading and bobbins, sewing straight lines and seams, understanding basic patterns, cutting fabric accurately, and then using those skills to work on a project of your own.

The groups are kept very small — maximum 3 people — so there is plenty of individual help along the way.

And now I’d love to know…

If you could learn to make one thing on a sewing course, what would it be?
A dress? Trousers? A bag? Something for your home? Or something completely different?

Pop your answer in the comments — I’d genuinely love to hear your ideas. 🪡✂️

🧵 Would a Thursday afternoon sewing course suit you? 🧵

I currently have 2 spaces left on my next evening Beginners Sewing Course, but I’m also thinking about adding another 6-week Beginners Sewing Course on Thursday afternoons at 3pm.

Before I add another date, I’d love to know if there’s enough interest.

The course is for complete beginners and runs for 6 weeks, with 1½ hours of tuition each week in a very small group of just 1–3 people.

You’ll spend the first couple of weeks learning how to use the sewing machine confidently, then move on to making your own projects and building your skills.

POLL:
Would you be interested in a Thursday afternoon course at 3pm?

🧵 Yes, definitely
✂️ Possibly — I’d like more details
🌙 No, I’d prefer an evening course

If there’s enough interest, I’ll look at adding the Thursday afternoon course.

🎉 THE WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON BEGINNERS SEWING COURSE IS NOW FULL! 🎉

I’m so pleased to say that all the spaces on my Wednesday afternoon 6-week Beginners Sewing Course have now been taken. 🧵✂️

I absolutely love teaching these small groups. With only 1–3 people in each course, everyone gets plenty of individual help, time to ask questions and the confidence to learn at their own pace.

Over the six weeks we start right at the beginning — getting comfortable with the sewing machine — and then move on to making a project and building skills that you can keep using for years to come.

A huge thank you to everyone who has booked. I’m really looking forward to welcoming you into the Susan’s House studio and seeing what you create. 💕

And if you missed out this time, don’t worry — I’ll be sharing details of future courses too.
