🎁 The gift-buying mistake many of us make

My friend Claire was trying to find a birthday gift for her nephew Ryan.

"He loves cycling, computer games and golf," she said, "but every idea I come up with, I convince myself he probably already has it!"

And that's when I realised something...

The mistake many of us make is buying for the hobby instead of the person.

🚴 The cyclist probably already has cycling gear.
🎮 The gamer probably already has gaming accessories.
⛳ The golfer probably already has golf equipment.

But what about the person behind the hobby?

🎁 The interests, habits and personality that make them who they are.

Sometimes the best gifts come from knowing the person, not becoming an expert in their hobby. ❤️

That was the question my nephew Mark asked me this week while trying to sort Father’s Day.

And honestly, I think loads of people get stuck because they start searching for “a Father’s Day gift” instead of thinking about the person.

Emma asked me this while trying to find a birthday gift for her gran.

“She doesn’t need more clutter,” she said.

I think we’ve all bought at least one Father’s Day gift that looked funny at the time… then quietly disappeared into a cupboard forever 😂

My nephew Mark said he wanted to get his dad something humorous this year — but still useful.

And honestly, I think that’s the secret.

The gifts people keep are usually the ones that:
✔ make them smile
✔ actually get used
✔ feel personal
✔ fit naturally into everyday life

Not just random novelty for novelty’s sake.

🚨 Father’s Day panic has officially begun 🚨😂

My neighbour’s daughter was standing in the kitchen this week saying:

“What do you even buy dads anymore?” 🤦‍♀️

Apparently socks have already been used 🧦
Chocolate has been overdone 🍫
And “just get him a voucher” felt a bit uninspiring 😅

Honestly… I think this conversation is happening in kitchens all over the country right now.
