This abandoned and ignored marigold just made me smile.
This tray has sat here since June, never planted as I wasn’t bothered about marigolds this year, wasn’t watered because IT HAS NOT RAINED FOR 59 DAYS!
And yet it is flowering, as if to say to me ‘see, you should have planted me, you marigold hater!’
And this gets me on to watering 😬
A customer was almost shocked when I said how hard things are at the moment and said ‘can’t you just get your hosepipe out?’ I actually couldn’t really answer. I was a little confused!
I’m not a farmer so I don’t get help with any watering grants etc. Everything is in my own garden, we pay for the water we use on a meter.
We actually don’t have a hosepipe ban here but I am so concerned about watering and waste so I’m just keeping what I can alive.
So I don’t have enough flowers, they aren’t happy, their quality is suffering.
I’m suffering financially because of this but I don’t really know what else I can do.
I can offer you 1 poxy marigold 😉

Sorry if I’ve been a bit quiet lately.
This weather has not been easy and my flowers are suffering.
I still have some flowers but they just need a bit of a rest.
And so do I.
So I’m having a break until 6th September.
If you do need anything please call me and I will try to help.
I’m making plans for my next flower season. I really want to just concentrate on providing beautiful mixed bouquets as this is what I feel I’m best at and love the most. Totally seasonal, quality, unique and special.
By September my dahlias will be at their peak and I have some beautiful colours.
I look forward to seeing you then.

Due to the weather I won’t be at Springs until further notice. My flowers are really struggling.
I can cut to order but have limited availability. Please contact me on 07507735333. Please don’t use my email address as it’s not working at the moment.
I hope with a bit of rain and rest I’ll be back soon.

I try growing this every year.
I never pick it, I don’t know why, it just never calls to me.
So I’ve dug it up to make way for something I will love and use.
It looks beautiful here in this picture and I will use these on a little project.
But Limonium suworowii, I’m sorry we are over.

Don’t grow things you don’t love, a wise lady once said.

I’ve been waiting for this double campanula to flower.
It looks like crumpled silk, so pretty.
Not sure it’s enjoying this heat.

Due to the extreme temperatures and an event at Springs on Friday I won’t have flowers. Might see what Saturday brings!
If you need flowers please dm me.

As I stand here and watch this happen to the plants I have taken so much care to sow, pot up, plant, feed, support……I really do wonder if it’s all worth it.

I am in my 8th year of growing and every year I can honestly say the weather has become more and more extreme. Last week I couldn’t work because of the extreme heat, all I could do was try to keep things alive.

Today I can’t work outside, except to try and limit damage. I can’t decide whether to cut flowers now to try to save them or tackle it tomorrow in the high winds and thunder predicted.

I’m not looking for sympathy, I’m just trying to show how hard it is for growers at the moment.

The hard work, the worries, the financial stress.

I’m not just worried about my flowers, I’m worried about what’s happening to the world and how it will affect my children and their future.
