On the Wheel of the Year, the fourth Sabbat to celebrate is Ostara. Ostara is a celebration of the pagan fertility goddess Eostre. Based around the Spring Equinox around the 20th of March marking the beginning of Spring in the UK.
Ostara is all about the fertility of the earth returning. It is also the ideal time to put into effect plans you have been mulling over, starting new projects, taking up new hobbies. We all feel the energy of a renewed year when the snowdrops, daffodils and the other colourful spring flowers remind us of the joy of the earth. Longer, warmer days make it easier to clear out the clutter in your life, stretch out your body after the long winter and plant seeds for the year to come.

We'll be here on Saturday with some of our products - come and have a look if you are nearby. Great place to pick up wee bits and pieces for Halloween and dare I mention the C word? (Christmas that is πŸ˜€). Lots of other stalls and things to do. Bring the kids and have a bit of cake and a cuppa too.

Looking for something to do this Saturday? Why not pop along to Clackmannan Scout and Guide Autumn Fair

Mabon 2025

One of the eight Wiccan Sabbats on the Wheel of the Year. In 2025, this lands on the 21st/22nd September. A time of balance between day and night, it is the Autumn equinox and heralds the Harvest Moon.

The Wheel of the Year is marked in the Pagan calendar by eight seasonal festivals: the Spring and Autumn Equinox; the Summer and Winter Solstice with the mid-points between these solar events making the other four.

Mabon, the symbol of the Autumn Equinox, sits atop the wheel and marks the second of the Pagan harvest festivals. Mabon is a time to give thanks for Mother Earth's abundance. Spiritually, it is the time to reflect; to recognise your successes and to let go of things that no longer serve you.
Get out in nature – even if it's just a local park – and rejoice in the world around you. As it's harvest time, rejoice in food too. The abundance of nature is most evident at Harvest, enjoy!

At 19:20 BST on the 22nd September 2025, the centre of the Sun will cross the celestial equator to mark the Autumn Equinox in the Northern Hemisphere

Set your alarm – 7.12pm on Sunday UK time – look up to see the Corn Moon. Usually September heralds the Harvest Moon but the equinox falls late this year, so the Harvest Moon will appear on the 7th October in 2025. What is really exciting, is the Corn Moon coincides with a full Lunar Eclipse. As the moon rises in the UK skies (around 7:30pm), it will already be in eclipse and we will get to see the Moon gradually moving out of the earth's shadow. Ok, maybe we aren't getting the full experience like those in Eastern Africa, Central Asia or Western Australia, but it's still very special and I'll take that.

A couple of days away still so need to keep checking the weather forecast but at the moment, the East and Southwest areas look set for clear skies. Find a hill and a pair of binoculars and hope the UK weather will let you see this sight.

Even if you aren't lucky enough to see it, the influence and importance of this event will be with you. This full moon is an opportunity to reflect on personal goals and what you want in your future but the eclipse asks us to allow revelations too. Don't get in your own way, be free to feel the emotions that are in you with no thought of apology.

Spend sometime journaling your thoughts and focus yourself on this new moon, especially if you are a Piscean like me!

I love dragons – to me they feel like freedom and adventure. Magnificent, with their wondrous wingspan and fire breath, they capture my imagination like no other creature. Wherever you go in the world there are myths and legends linked to these glorious creatures.

Thursday (31st Aug) brings the full moon - perfect for moon bathing to absorb the energy of the moon. Simply step outside when the moon has risen, and bathe in its light or say a small prayer from the heart.
If you are unsure what to say, try these words to give thanks:

β€œFor everything you have provided, I thank you Goddess.

Please let me embrace your energies and accept your strength for the month ahead.

And so may it be.”
