It is now time for Brian and I to retire Beechwwod Quilting. We have been privileged to work with so many beautiful quilts over the years and meet wonderful quilters. Thank you all for allowing us to be part of your quilt stories. We will be finishing off the quilts we already have in for Christmas but sadly no more.

Delighted with the better weather and the many signs of Spring outdoors as well as some rocket seeds sprouting indoors.
Quilting is still happening and Brian and I are now better at managing the FaceTime consultations although sometimes it is a challenge for us both!!
I did finally finish Brian’s New Mexican quilt and we are both pleased with the final result. I did post something about this on Facebook but think it went out in a very limited way. Obviously I need to do more posts and then I would be more au fait with getting posts published.
Like everyone else I am delighted to have had my first vaccination and looking forward to an easing of lockdown and being able to meet up with family and friends again. Today is a morning with the seeds and garden and quilting this afternoon.

We managed to complete all the Christmas quilts for customers and I finally managed to get one of my own quilts back onto the machine. My target had been to finish the quilting before the end of 2020 but not sure that is now realistic as there are so many other distractions. All these distractions are lovely and I cannot pass on a Zoom/ FaceTime call with any of the grandchildren or their parents.
This year has confirmed my belief that we should all be kinder to each other and make more time to share time with family and friends - currently online. But hopefully 2021 will be a better year for everyone and we can once again meet up and even hug.

I have finally got my lockdown quilt onto our longarm machine. I am having fun with the quilting, rulers and threads. Just what is needed to brighten up a dreich November day. There are plenty of little Christmas projects to keep me busy too. So whatever stage or type of lockdown you are experiencing stay safe and keep stitching.

Having spent more than usual time in the garden we felt we would enjoy having a greenhouse to grow some fruits and vegetables. Brian has also made some raised beds and sorted out the watering systems. As it only arrived at the end of July we thought there would be no crops this year. When friends and family heard we had a greenhouse we got lots of ‘we have too many of these can you take ...’ so happily we will have some tomatoes, peppers and chillies. As we are new to the world of greenhouses we were wondering about pests as you can see we have one already!
Today we are in the garden and tomorrow we quilt.

Beechwood Quilting has been active during this time of lockdown and we have discovered the delights of having quilts delivered and when completed uplifted by Parcel Force and safely returned to their homes.
Many quilters have contacted us to say they have been very busy making more quilts so we may continue to be busy. One quilter has even mentioned she needs to move in to complete all her quilts.
Keeping fit is important and I have an online Pilates class. I am often joined by Bandit who has mastered ‘the cat’ position as you can see.
The kitchen cupboards have also had a sort out. We had a very lucky find in this elderly Christmas Pudding for 8. Yes we managed to eat our way through it and are here to tell the tale. It was delicious.
We have had many many sunny days and our garden is looking delightful.
We hope that your are all keeping well and like us looking forward to meeting up with family and friends soon.

It certainly has been a long time in lockdown. Now I just would love to see the family and give them all a hug but I know that is still a long way off. We are fortunate that with technology we can see and chat to family and friends. We quilters are also fortunate in having a great activity to get lost in. I thought I would reduce my stash of fabrics but so far I have only made a small dent.
We have been fairly busy with customer quilts and it has been good to keep our customers happy at this time too. All done according to social distancing and postal services.
Our cat Bandit loves to help me in my sewing space but sometimes even he gives up on what to do with one of my UFOs! I have finally made a start on the Navejo quilt that Brian gave up piecing after the first 4” block! Still a fair way to go but that will be my lockdown quilt. Stay safe.

Hi to all our customers and friends, just to let you know where we are at with the current health situation

Due to current situation with COVID-19 we are not in a position to have quilters come into our house until further notice. Currently we are both well but going into self imposed isolation. It sounds like a really bad thing but we have decided that we should look for the positives. Carole is going to tackle her stash and finish off outstanding projects. Brian plans on clearing and sorting out his garage. However we also plan to continue quilting but with slight modifications. If you still wish to have a quilt quilted at Beechwood we can accept postal delivery. This will then be followed up by a telephone call/ FaceTime/Skype to discuss, view patterns and threads. Sadly you have to make your own coffee while we discuss your quilt! ​All completed quilts will then be returned by post and charged accordingly.

Anyone who knows us know we like to chat so if you too
are stuck in your home with self isolation you may want to discuss your quilts so please feel free to give us a call. It is always good to catch up with fellow quilters.

These are challenging times and we need to look after each other and keep positive and keep quilting.
