We’re hoping to make these a monthly thing, so our next one is on:

Saturday 8th August
11am–3pm

We’ll have plenty of plants from our hire stock looking for new homes, along with pots, second-hand home bits and a few other bargains.

Why Choose a Ficus Lyrata?

The Ficus lyrata, also known as the fiddle-leaf fig, thrives in bright rooms with plenty of indirect natural light. It loves warm, stable temperatures and is happiest in living rooms, home offices, or sunlit bedrooms with large windows. Avoid placing it in dark corners, drafty areas, or near heating and air conditioning vents, as sudden temperature changes can stress the plant.

A Ficus lyrata is also an excellent plant to hire for a photo shoot. Its large, sculptural leaves and elegant shape create a bold, timeless statement that complements a wide range of interiors and styling themes. One of the plants we used to get asked about all the time when the shop was open is the Ficus lyrata, also known as the fiddle-leaf fig. It’s a stunning plant, but it can be quite tricky to keep happy.

The key is consistency. It thrives in a spot with bright, steady light all year round, avoid moving it around too much. When it comes to watering, less really is more. Let the soil dry out completely between waterings; overwatering is the most common mistake, especially with weekly routines that are simply too much for this plant.

On another note, it’s been lovely to see this beauty thriving at new boutique in Deià, Mallorca The shop is full of beautiful colours and a mix of vintage and new pieces, definitely worth a visit if you find yourself in Deià.
