Where do I start with this one… I loved it so much, Charlotte has such a gorgeous way of writing that makes you fall in love with her characters. There were moments where I laughed out loud and next minute was holding back tears 🤣 an emotional rollercoaster for sure! I can’t even choose which character I loved most… Marianne with her dry humour and frenchisms, Beatrice with her determination and helplessness, Finn… just being Finn! And Matisse! With his perfect one-liners! This book gave me such a warm fuzzy feeling at times but you can also tell it comes from somewhere deeply relatable for the author. Don’t skip the author’s note on this one as that nearly had me crying too 😅 truly loved it my only criticism is I want more, please please can we have more of this wonderful world you’ve built Charlotte Levin 🙏❤️ it’s going to take something great from my reading pile to follow this up! 5 ⭐

Last weeks roundup! What a joy to read so many good books recently… A Healthy Appetite by was absolutely fantastic and I will be recommending to everyone. Dinner for Vampires was really fun (? Feels like the wrong word 🤣) to listen to, absolutely crazy true story! And I’m totally devouring Outside by Charlotte Levin - I’m rooting so hard for Beatrice! Can’t wait to finish that soon. I just really really really love books 🥰

We all know I love a book about an unhinged woman!! She meets a man on a train in Copenhagen, travels with him to London and spends two weeks quarantining in his flat. As the days pass, she reflects on her disturbing past relationship with the mysterious and controlling T…

It has a mixture of regular narrative alongside poetry and we look into power, desire, patriarchy and capitalism… all the good stuff! I didn’t realise this is the second in a whole series of books by this author and now I must buy all the rest, such is life 😂 wholeheartedly recommend if you wanna be confused and entertained in equal measure!!

I Want You to Be Happy by Jem Calder

Chuck is 35, freshly out of an 11-year relationship and not coping particularly well. Joey is 23, a poet and barista. They meet on a drunken night out and what follows is a very messy, very questionable situationship.

Both are pretty flawed, but Chuck… my GOD. I’ve seen people say they couldn’t decide whose side they were on, but that guy is the worst 😂

Funny, painful, uncomfortable and painfully relatable in some parts!! Basically two people making terrible decisions and dragging you along for the ride. I loved it 😁

One of Us by Elizabeth Day

I didn’t realise this was a sequel to The Party (which has actually been on my list for a while!) , but it didn’t matter! The story was so well laid out and explained that it could work as a standalone too. Plus judging by that cliffhanger ending there could be a third on the way too!

I have only read one Elizabeth Day book before (Magpie) which I absolutely loved, so I had high hopes and this did not disappoint! We have POV from Martin, Serena, Richard, Cosima and Fliss, all vastly different people, as we explore political elitism. This book has humour, parody, murder mystery and so much more, if you want a good laugh (and maybe a little cry) I would recommend for sure. Now I’m going to read The Party for the full back story 🤓

An August round up! So funny how it can sometimes take ages to get into a book and others not at all! I finished 9 books in August which is the most I’ve read all year so far! Lots of 5⭐️ reads in there too. I’m excited for the big pile of books I have lined up for September 😎
