A little update on this pretty lady…

She had so much interest when we posted her that we no longer have any left in stock… until Wednesday (delivery scheduled).

So, although she temporarily doesn’t hold a place in the cottage she will return!

But of course, until then, there are so many other curiosities to tickle your tastebuds

A thought from the Wax Maker…

“There’s something rather satisfying about a delivery of wax arriving at the Cottage.

Empty jars on the shelf. Fragrance bottles waiting downstairs. A ridiculously long list scribbled on a bit of paper somewhere… and suddenly it feels like there’s work to be done.”

The Wax Maker has supplies. 🕯️
Which means the great Wickwood wax top-up begins this week.

Little Hearts, familiar favourites and a few shelves that have been looking suspiciously empty will gradually be filled again as he works his way through the list.

So if there’s a Wickwood scent you’ve been waiting for… keep one eye on the shelves.

Apparently, he’s going in. 🌿✨

Good morning lovelies 👋

It’s Thursday, so no shop today.

Car’s in for a service and while I’m waiting for that I’m going to start recording a mini series of shorts - Five Minute Makes - for the YT channel.
I want to challenge myself to create some small abstract pieces in just 5 minutes!! 😱

Rob’s job for today… more on the website!
It’s going to look so good AND you’re going to be able to find so much more on there than just wax melts and mini pocket prints!! 👍🏻

For now, I’ll leave you with a new piece I’m working on ⬇️

🤔Not sure where we are yet… but I’m sure all will be revealed once it’s complete!

🌑 There’s something rather special happening above Wickwood today…

Tonight the skies are putting on quite the performance.

An almost-total solar eclipse across parts of Britain.
A New Moon.
The Perseid meteor shower reaching its peak.
And, beneath dark enough skies, the Milky Way stretching overhead.

All in one day.

It feels like the sort of thing that ought to make us stop for a moment.

To look up.

To remember that beyond the lists, the clocks, the errands and all the terribly important things we convince ourselves must be done immediately… an entire universe is carrying on above our heads.

Perhaps tonight is a good night for new beginnings.

Or letting go of an old idea.

Or following a new one simply because it appeared and made something inside you sparkle.

And if you happen to see a shooting star?

Well…

Around here we’d make a wish.

Some things just look as though they belong at Wickwood Cottage…

We’re fairly certain she wandered in from the Whispering Woods when nobody was looking. 🍂

Quiet, a little mysterious and wrapped in leaves - she’s settled herself into a corner of the Cottage and, quite frankly, looks as though she’s always been there.

The door is open, the Cottage is stirring and there are plenty of curious things waiting inside.

We’re open today (Tuesday) 10–4.

Step in. Slow down. Have a wander. 🌿✨

Nope, there are no plans to offer workshops with this kind of art, but always a pleasure to chin wag about what I no works/doesn’t work etc

💬 Said such lovely, positive things about our town, both online and in person
❤️ Continued to believe in Longton and the people working hard to make it better

We've seen some genuinely heart warming comments recently from people saying how much 𝗟𝗼𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗼𝗻 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗱, how much they love the atmosphere and how grateful they are to everyone putting their time, energy and passion into helping turn the town around.

And honestly… 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁. ❤️

But it's important to remember that it's not just businesses making things happen.

🌸 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗮𝗺𝗮𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘀 deserve a huge shoutout too.

The brilliant Bloomin' Longton volunteers who give their time to maintain the planters around the town and keep Longton looking colourful and cared for.

📚 The volunteers who help run From Longton and Proud CIC / The Little Longton Book Exchange, creating a lovely community space for people to enjoy.

And the many other people who quietly give their time, energy and skills to make a difference.

Then there are the people behind the scenes making new opportunities possible.

👏 A huge thank you to Longton Exchange Shopping Centre and Longton Victorian Market management for securing new businesses and giving entrepreneurs a place to start, grow and invest in our town.

We've welcomed 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀, 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘂𝗿𝘀, 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 recently and that's something worth celebrating.
But here's the REALLY important bit...

Every time you buy something from an independent shop, grab a coffee, visit the market, attend an event, recommend a local business or simply tell someone something positive about Longton...

𝗬𝗼𝘂'𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝘄𝗻'𝘀 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲.🫶

Longton's story isn't being written by one person, one business or one organisation.

It's a collaborative effort.

Business owners.
Market traders.
Volunteers.
Community groups.
Property owners.
Event organisers.
Local organisations.

And most importantly, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲, 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲.

So let's keep going. 💙
