Bethesda Hospice Shop

Bethesda Hospice Shop Welcome to our Bethesda Hospice Charity Shop page - Why not pop in and have a look around. We look forward to seeing you soon! 👋 Our community needs us.

We have something for everyone - from tweed to kitchen chairs. Visitors to the islands are always struck by the care that our people have for each other. The Hospice is a perfect illustration of this. So many people have seen for themselves the wonderful work that is done, and wish to join us in showing compassion to those who are in need. It was no surprise when Bethesda received the Investor In

People award. As a truly local charity we provide rewarding employment for 49 staff of various skills, placement opportunities for students, and a focal point for volunteer work and fundraising. With so many different people involved, openness in communication and an ongoing programme of training are vital. We must never lose our vision. We need our community. The unit is run on an entirely non-profit basis. The Nursing Home beds are primarily occupied by clients of the Western Isles Council Social Work Department and is therefore self-financing. By contrast, less than 50% of Hospice costs are met by the Western Isles Health Board. The shortfall must be raised from charitable contributions, grants and fundraising. For 2006/2007 this shortfall amounted to £159,000.

We absolutely love giving old furniture a second chance, and these two sad-looking chairs have had the most incredible transformation! ✨

A huge thank you to **Ann and her husband Ian** for working their magic. They stripped them back and beautifully reupholstered them in stunning Harris Tweed, and we couldn't be happier with the results. Then they donated them to us to raise funds. A million thanks to you both. 🪑❤️

If you've got a tired chair at home that's seen better days, don't throw it away—why not have it upcycled instead? It's a fantastic way to breathe new life into quality furniture while creating something completely unique.

You can see more of their amazing work over on Instagram: ****. We highly recommend them if you're thinking about restoring a favourite piece.

These beautifully restored chairs are now available:
🪑 **Dining chair** – offers over **£80**
🪑 **Parker Knoll chair** – offers over **£200**

Pop into the shop to have a look, or send us a message if you'd like more information!

A huge thank you to one of our lovely customers for sharing this beautiful upcycling idea! 💚✨

Instead of letting old glassware go to waste, she's transformed it into gorgeous little lights for her plant pots, adding a warm, magical glow to her garden. 🌿🕯️

We absolutely love seeing your creativity and the many ways you give our glassware a second life. If you've upcycled any of our pieces, we'd love to see what you've created too! Send us your photos and help inspire others to look at everyday glassware in a whole new way. ♻️💡

Who knows? Your idea could be the one that inspires someone's next creative project! ❤️

🐻❤️ Bertie’s Big Heart Storytime at Stornoway Library ❤️🐻

We had a fantastic time at Stornoway Library on Saturday for a special Bertie’s Big Heart storytime session!

Our young visitors enjoyed meeting Bertie Bear himself, dancing, singing songs, listening to the story and taking part in lots of fun games. Thank you to everyone who came along and helped make it such a lovely event.

📖 Bertie’s Big Heart is available to purchase from the Bethesda Shop for £5 per copy, with all proceeds going to Bethesda Hospice, helping to support the vital work they do in our community.
