Humans need a community. It’s in our nature to live in groups, to have meaningful connections.

Living with uncertainty has become the norm. This has made it more important than ever to have a strong support network in place. Being part of a group can help fight feelings of loneliness and give us the certainty that we are safe when surrounded by our community and like minded people. Tough times can hit anyone, and it’s good to know that you don’t have to go through them alone.

Communities are about giving and taking; the more you do that, the more you share with others and the more likely you are to build meaningful relationships. Meaningful relationships can develop quickly among like-minded people if they share common interests, shared goals, or experiences. By networking with other community members, you can make new friends, help others, or get support.

As humans we’re social creatures; we want to be with like-minded people. We often crave interaction with other people and are drawn to communities. People who feel a sense of belonging to their community are more able to:

Reduce the feeling of loneliness

Feel less stress

Have higher self-esteem

Have better mental health

Have a greater sense of purpose in life (doing more than just earning a living or looking after the grandkids!)

"Are you still reading books in schools?" 🤔

I often bump into people that I know or used to work with...and this is what they ask me ⬆️

When people hear storytelling they automatically think of reading books....but Debutots is sooooo much more than that....

It is a magical experience.....

The children tell the story with us...it is interactive, full of words, sounds, empathetic characters, repetition, voices, facial expressions, ideas, suggestions, confidence building, problem solving, and most importantly...it is a fun and engaging way to learn 🩷✨️

And would you believe it....not a book in sight!!

"So no, I'm not reading books in schools...I am taking the children on a magical adventure through the wonderful world of storytelling"....🩷✨️

📣 Exciting opportunity - I am hiring!

I’m looking for an enthusiastic, reliable freelance facilitator to join me running drama and storytelling classes for young children across playgroups, nurseries, schools (including SEN schools), community centres and other children's settings across the Tyrone and Derry/Londonderry area!

Debutots is an award-winning set of classes using story, rhyme, drama and music — think puppets, bubbles and tons of imagination!

❤️ Full training is provided, so no prior knowledge of Debutots needed.

📅 Starting in October 2026 with 2 mornings a week during term-time, with potential to increase to 4-5 mornings a week.

📅 Training to take place during August and September

🚗 Own transport is essential as sessions are across multiple venues. (Within 20 mile radius of Strabane)

✅ You’ll ideally have:
• Experience working with children, drama or education
• Experience in working with SEN
• An enhanced Access NI certificate (or be happy to obtain one)
• Lots of energy and warmth
• A professional and reliable manner

💷 Self-employed basis. Starting at £20–25ph depending on session.

This fits really well alongside other work or commitments - it is an amazing, rewarding and flexible role!
