A LITTLE FRIDAY NIGHT UPDATE

August will be the final month of our current half-price everything offer on Fridays from 5pm–8pm.

We did seriously consider ending the Half Past Five Club altogether from September. It’s our busiest time of year, Friday nights are getting busier and, to be completely honest, we do need to start making a bit more money so we can keep investing in Waterloo House and make this Christmas our best one yet.

But we also realised something important.

We’ve built a really lovely Friday-night community here. There are lots of people who come in between 5pm and 8pm because, at normal prices, going out for food and drinks has simply become too expensive.

And we love that people can still come out, meet their friends, have a few drinks, eat something and decompress after the week without spending a fortune.

So, from September, the Half Past Five Club will stay — just in a slightly more streamlined format:

Half-price burgers
Half-price cocktails
Half-price pints, including draught beer and soft drinks

Keeping the offer focused will make Friday nights easier for the team, improve the experience for everyone and allow us to keep doing something affordable without completely bankrupting ourselves.

My accountant probably thinks I’m mad for carrying it on. Maybe I am.

But going to the pub on a Friday night used to feel like something everyone could do. These days it increasingly feels like a luxury, and we’re proud to have brought a little bit of that accessibility back.

So you’ve still got the remaining Fridays in August to enjoy half-price everything, before the new offer begins in September.

Thank you to everyone who has made Friday nights what they are. We genuinely love having you here. See you at the bar.

WHAT’S ON AT WATERLOO HOUSE THIS WEEK

Another fairly relaxed week ahead, with live music on Thursday and Friday, football on Saturday and plenty of food and drink throughout.

FOOD TIMES

Brunch is served Thursday to Sunday, 9am–2.30pm.

The evening kitchen is open Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 5pm–9.30pm.

THURSDAY

Alex is still away, so this week we’ve got Tom Can’t Make It, fronted by Katie Thomas, joining us.

Live music from 8pm.

FRIDAY

The Silent Book Club is back from 9am. Bring a book, grab a coffee and enjoy some quiet reading alongside other people doing exactly the same.

Then from 5pm, it’s the usual Half Past Five Club.

From 8.30pm, we’ve got the brilliant Banned Substance playing covers from across the decades. That should be a really good night.

SATURDAY

For the first time in what feels like ages, we don’t have a private party upstairs, so it’s available to book.

We can now provide pizzas for upstairs parties too, as the new pizza oven is officially firing on all cylinders. Get in touch if you’ve got a birthday or celebration coming up.

Forest Green are at home, so we’re expecting a few football fans through the door during the afternoon. Saturday evening should be a little more relaxed, but you never quite know.

SUNDAY

Nothing too dramatic planned. Brunch, drinks and a fairly chilled Sunday at Waterloo House.

See you at the bar.

This weekend we turn 5!!

We have seen so much change in the town over these past 5 years, including here in the cafe. Staff coming and going, covid, a baby, an expansion and all with the support of our amazing community and customers here in Nailsworth, who have helped us grow and flourish. We feel so lucky to still be here, and that people still choose us as a place to meet, to sit, to work, to laugh and to share moments over our amazing coffee and cakes.

The past 5 years have not been without their challenges, but we have kept going throughout - thanks to our amazing staff members, suppliers and customers.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you all.

Come and celebrate with us on Saturday with coffee and any cake or pastry for just £5.
