Reusing Existing Carpet – Stairs, Landing & Bedroom

Another job completed by SR Flooring Stroud, and this one was all about making the most of what the customer already had!

The customer had existing carpet and underlay from another room that they wanted to reuse rather than replace. After looking at the available carpet, we were able to work with what they had and give it a new lease of life.

What we did:

Reused the customer's existing carpet
Reused the existing underlay
Carefully cut and reconfigured the carpet to suit the new room
Installed the carpet throughout the stairs and landing
Added a join on the landing to make the best possible use of the existing carpet
Supplied and fitted new gripper throughout
Professionally stretched and fitted everything for a neat finish

One of the biggest advantages of having an experienced fitter assess the carpet before automatically replacing it is that sometimes what you already have can be reused.

By making careful use of the existing carpet and underlay, we were able to save the customer hundreds of pounds compared with supplying completely new flooring.

The finished result looks fantastic, and it's a great example of how a little planning and the right fitting techniques can make existing flooring go much further.

Don't automatically assume your existing carpet needs to be thrown away! If you're changing rooms, renovating or simply looking to save money, it's always worth asking whether your existing carpet can be reused.

Attic Room LVT – Finished Result

Another flooring project completed by SR Flooring Stroud!

These attic rooms were prepared with flooring-grade plywood, ready for the LVT to be installed over the top. Due to the attic location and the higher temperatures these rooms can experience, we took some extra precautions during the installation.

For this installation we used:

LVT fitted directly over the prepared plywood
A specialist high-temperature adhesive to help provide the best possible bond and minimise the risk of movement in warmer conditions
Careful preparation and fitting throughout
A clear silicone bead around the perimeter to give the edges a neat, professional finish
Detailed cuts around the beams, doors and awkward areas to make the most of the space

The finished result has completely transformed the rooms, with the wood-effect LVT giving them a warm, clean and modern finish.

Attic rooms can present their own challenges, particularly with access, awkward angles, exposed beams and temperature changes, so choosing the right preparation and installation products is really important.

Another job finished with care and attention to detail.

Preparation is key when it comes to LVT!

A recent job preparing two attic rooms ready for LVT flooring.

These rooms presented a bit of a challenge due to the limited and awkward access. To get the flooring grade plywood up into the attic rooms, the sheets had to be carefully cut down to manageable sizes before being carried through and laid out.

Once the plywood was installed, the joints were treated with feather finish, creating a smooth, level surface ready for the LVT installation.

It's not always about simply putting the finished floor down — the preparation underneath is just as important for achieving the best possible result.

A fresh new look for this staircase!

Another staircase transformation completed by SR Flooring, with this beautiful luxury twist pile carpet fitted throughout the stairs and landing.
