ALB-Framing To introduce myself, I'm Ally Bain and I've been a framer since 2014 when I completed a BA (Hons) in Photography. Local Picture Framing Services.

The lady who bought this print asked me to use Oak Bullnose moulding and Anti-Reflective 70 (AR70/UV70). The 70 relates to the 70% filter that blocks UV rays.

Whilst getting married they bought themselves the lovely drawing of the donkeys. During our meeting I not only discussed the mouldings, glass, etc, yet told them I have a computerised mountboard cutter (CMC). In essence it means a window mountboard can be cut to produce wonderful things. In their case I said I can deboss their names at the top and where they got married together with the date. Upon delivery the lady loved it and seeing that reminds me how much I like seeing the happyness in people faces.

By using different hues of red this has created a beautiful drawing of Himeji Castle, Japan. Not only the castle, yet the landscape and the moon – do you think it’s gorgeous?

The moulding shown here is a Red Smooth Bullnose, yet on the site you’ll be able to see that with Black Smooth Bullnose. It’s a double window mountboard, which does have a V-groove.

This weekend I'm doing two craft shows so please see me at one of them.

On Saturday I'm at Clare Craft Market, Town Hall, CO10 8NN, between 10am - 4pm. Wonderful items are being shown, including mine, together with a café, which has enjoyable sandwiches and cakes.

Sunday I'm involved with Marmalade Events at Inspire, Lindbergh Road, Ipswich, IP3 9QX - advertising poster is below.

The gentleman had a number of patches and together we designed the frame. To elaborate, the moulding was plain wood and after painting it with a primer I finished it with Parma Grey. The bamboo mountboard does bring the patches alive.

Last year a lady asked me to frame two pieces of work and this is one of them. It was enjoyable positioning the banner with the cord about it.

From a personal point, my late parents met whilst in the RAF during WWII therefore I was kept thinking of them when doing this frame.

Craft shows are still a wonderful way to meet new customers and the framed picture demonstrates the importance of these shows. Ironically, this one shows it twice; I met the couple at the last Clare Craft Show (Suffolk, CO10 8NN), had an appointment at their home and on 11th May, I’m giving them the framed picture at the next Clare Craft Show.

The drawing resembles Thornham Creek, Hunstanton, Norfolk. The customers’ very quickly selected the textured, bevelled gold moulding with a vanilla window mountboard.
