Roses , you can’t beat an English rose , the scent is unforgettable and the colours are so beautiful.
At Floriston we pride ourselves for our roses and we love this time of year when they come into bloom again and make us smile. We just love them.

What a wonderful way to finish our season of flowers with these two incredible twins Joan and Barbara .
We were so happy to supply wedding flowers for Joan’s daughter Laura.
It’s been a very busy year and we are so grateful to everyone who has supported us and of course Lucy’s fantastic team.

Loving autumn .
Just when you think all flowers have gone then the chrysanthemums begin to open. I debated whether to grow these but now I am thrilled as they are so different to the ones you see in the super market. We have spent a long time researching the multi headed antique versions , they are simply beautiful and the most wonderful shades .
Dahlias still hanging on in there , so lucky not to have been hit by a frost, sure it will arrive soon.

What a week it has been. The most exciting of all is Lucy has had a baby ( im a granny 😊), I can’t begin to describe the joy he has brought to us all.
The hardest part was leaving Alfie and coming back to the farm, but it was worth it,at last the rain has cleared and the dahlias are looking stunning, for how much longer I don’t know, but we will enjoy for the moment .

Dahlias. I have at last managed to take a few hours out and get my camera out, having been a photographer for many years before embarking on the life of a flower farmer , the excitement of being behind the lens again is fantastic.
Dahlias have represented for years “finding an inner strength “. They also symbolise beauty, commitment and kindness which makes me love them even more . They don’t let you down they are creative and hugely dignified

Where do we get our inspiration from on the flower farm. The backdrop of the farm is the garden at Floriston nurtured by Dominic and Simon , which has evolved over 20 years alongside the rewilding of the land around Floriston which has led to the proliferation of wild flowers. The garden is ever evolving and is the trial ground for new plants which are then if successful taken to the flower farm. We also take our inspiration from local specialist nurseries who challenge us with new varieties. The flower growers community is a fantastic resource /support of ideas and challenges. The British flower movement is a very exciting group to be part of. Last but not least are the wonderful florists who support the growers. We are immensely proud of Lucy for her support of British flowers and championing this movement . ✈️

Whites galore. I love this time of year when the hydrangeas bloom with the cosmos. Each one has an identity of its own displaying varying shapes and sizes. My favourite are the paniculata with their huge cone shaped heads.
