One of the biggest myths about wedding flowers...

“Your flowers won’t last all day.”

I often get asked, “Should I have faux flowers instead because fresh flowers don’t last?”

The truth is, professionally prepared fresh flowers are designed to last throughout your wedding day.
What many couples don’t realise is that your flowers arrive with me 2–3 days before your wedding. This gives me time to carefully condition every stem and leave them to drink for at least 24 hours before I begin creating your bouquets and floral designs.

This behind the scenes preparation plays a huge part in how beautifully your flowers last from your morning preparations through to your evening celebrations.

I specialise exclusively in fresh flowers because nothing compares to their natural beauty, movement and scent. With the right preparation, fresh flowers are made to be enjoyed throughout your wedding day.

Did you know your wedding flowers begin their journey days before your wedding?

Creating your friends wedding florals is an absolute honour 🤍

When Faye asked me to create the flowers for her wedding at Ramside Treehouse, it felt incredibly special. Knowing she trusted me with such an important part of her day meant so much.

One of my favourite details was her bouquet. Faye asked for peonies, her favorite flower, carnations for her mum and freesia for Liam’s mum, adding an extra personal touch and making it far more than just a beautiful bouquet. It became something deeply meaningful to carry down the aisle.

It’s these thoughtful details that make wedding flowers so personal and such a privilege to create.

Congratulations, Faye & Liam. Thank you for trusting Olivehill Garden to be part of such a special day. 🤍

If you’re planning your wedding and would love florals that tell your story, I’d love to hear all about your plans.

What makes flowers feel truly garden inspired

For me, it’s all about movement, texture and those slightly untamed stems that look as though they’ve been picked straight from the garden.

In this bouquet, I’ve used:
🌿 Delphinium for height and movement
🌿 Astilbe for softness and romance
🌿 Scabiosa for its delicate texture
🌿 Nigella for that wild, whimsical feel

If you’re planning your wedding and love natural, abundant florals, save this for inspiration 🤍

✨ Truth is… being a wedding florist is about so much more than flowers.

It’s the early mornings, the cups of coffee, the countless notes and ideas, and the excitement that still comes with every fresh flower delivery.

It’s spending more time thinking about your wedding flowers than you’ll probably ever realise, carefully considering every colour, every texture and every tiny detail that makes your day feel like you.

It’s the moments behind the scenes, with family helping on busy wedding weeks and my home temporarily turning into a flower studio.

And somehow, after every consultation, enquiry and booking, I still have those pinch-me moments.

Olivehill Garden means so much more to me than creating beautiful flowers. It’s the privilege of being trusted with one of the most important days in someone’s life, and I’ll never stop being grateful for every couple who chooses me to be part of theirs. 🤍

Planning your wedding flowers? Here’s what we’d love you to know 🌷

Choosing your wedding florist is about so much more than picking pretty flowers. From knowing when to book to understanding your budget, a little planning can make the whole process feel much less overwhelming.
In this guide, I’m sharing 5 things I think every newly engaged couple should know before booking their florist.
✨ Book early to secure your date.
✨ Have a rough budget in mind.
✨ Choose a florist whose style you genuinely love.
✨ You don’t need to know flower names.
✨ Ask about repurposing your flowers to make your budget go further.
My goal is always to help couples feel informed and confident when planning their wedding flowers, whether you book with me or not.
🤍 Save this post for when you’re ready to start planning your wedding flowers.
If you’d like even more tips, you can download my free Wedding Flower Planning Guide and find plenty of helpful advice on my website.
