Those of you who came to last year's Steampunk Shenanigans at Ryhope Engines Museum will remember our wonderful magician, Greg Chapman, mainly limited to close-up magic because of health issues. These are sadly ongoing, and although he has learned to adapt and the pain management regime is improved, he is still very limited in what he is able to do. When I look back at Greg's performances over the years as Juggler, Escapologist, Unicyclist, and a crowd pleasing re-telling of the allegedly true story of the Battle of Hastings 1066 ( which included the missing juggler! ) through the medium of Interpretive Dance, I am not surprised that he is frustrated and liable to try to over-do things.
However, he has developed a brand new one man theatre show, Greg Chapman's Magic of the Dinosaurs, which he has been touring in the South and West, closer to his home on an island 3,500 miles off the coast of Africa, where he lives with his wife, Felicity, who is a Mermaid. Since he is coming to County Durham for the Ryhope weekend, we have found him a venue so he can perform the new show in the North East, so Friday 26th May at Trimdon Station Community Centre. and you can get tickets online at https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/gregchapman/greg-chapmans-magic-of-the-dinosaurs-trimdon-station-community-centre/e-myvkya?fbclid=IwAR1CRAwDGmRPf6n6PE7RWhXx4pBGOwsJHT74kAXkEqAPrzg0k0lto-Zlngs Family friendly, features magic, puppets, trickery, story-telling, interesting stuff, and DINOSAURS! There's a licensed bar as well.
Meanwhile, all the shenanigans at the Ryhope Engines Museum are completely FREE, with Greg Chapman, plus Gosling Raptors with wonderful Owls, Albearto the Dancing Bear, quirky retail therapy, amazing Beam Engines in steam, home-made cakes in the cafe, Victorian pugilists on the Saturday, and probably yet more too be confirmed. Got to be the best value day out in the North of England!!
