Sadly, I have decided that I am retiring from running any events. After 30+ years. With no Gillian any more I have no inclination to carry on.

Those of you who came to last year's Steampunk Shenanigans at Ryhope Engines Museum will remember our wonderful magician, Greg Chapman, mainly limited to close-up magic because of health issues. These are sadly ongoing, and although he has learned to adapt and the pain management regime is improved, he is still very limited in what he is able to do. When I look back at Greg's performances over the years as Juggler, Escapologist, Unicyclist, and a crowd pleasing re-telling of the allegedly true story of the Battle of Hastings 1066 ( which included the missing juggler! ) through the medium of Interpretive Dance, I am not surprised that he is frustrated and liable to try to over-do things.

However, he has developed a brand new one man theatre show, Greg Chapman's Magic of the Dinosaurs, which he has been touring in the South and West, closer to his home on an island 3,500 miles off the coast of Africa, where he lives with his wife, Felicity, who is a Mermaid. Since he is coming to County Durham for the Ryhope weekend, we have found him a venue so he can perform the new show in the North East, so Friday 26th May at Trimdon Station Community Centre. and you can get tickets online at https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/gregchapman/greg-chapmans-magic-of-the-dinosaurs-trimdon-station-community-centre/e-myvkya?fbclid=IwAR1CRAwDGmRPf6n6PE7RWhXx4pBGOwsJHT74kAXkEqAPrzg0k0lto-Zlngs Family friendly, features magic, puppets, trickery, story-telling, interesting stuff, and DINOSAURS! There's a licensed bar as well.

Meanwhile, all the shenanigans at the Ryhope Engines Museum are completely FREE, with Greg Chapman, plus Gosling Raptors with wonderful Owls, Albearto the Dancing Bear, quirky retail therapy, amazing Beam Engines in steam, home-made cakes in the cafe, Victorian pugilists on the Saturday, and probably yet more too be confirmed. Got to be the best value day out in the North of England!!

Here's a short video showing part of the amazing beam engines running under steam power at Ryhope Engines Museum. These engines are the real stars of the show for our steampunk shenanigans, together with the beautiful buildings that were built around them as the engines were assembled - such pride in the workmanship even for a functional water pumping station. What is being built today with such pride, and what is going to be in full working order in 150 years time?

We are adding live enertainment and quirky retail therapy, but you really should come and see the beam engines - and it is all completely free. A fantastic family friendly day out, May 27th, 29th and 29th at Ryhope Engines Museum, just south of Sunderland, there are brown tourist signs to help you find it, or just look out for the massive chimney!

On the Saturday our shenanigans at Ryhope Engines Museum will be augmented by a visit and demonstrations courtesy of the Bartitsu Antagonistics Forum, a group dedicated to various martial arts, especially the Victorian Bartitsu, or stick fighting, of which Sherlock Holmes was a disciple.

We look forward to welcoming Duncan McNulty and his colleagues! https://www.facebook.com/BartitsuAntagonisticsForum

That's Saturday May 27th, part of the Ryhope Engines Museum Steampunk Weekend, free admission, live entertainment, beam engines in steam, home-made cake, quirky retail therapy, don't miss out, it's going to be FUN!

Here's some excellent news. As Greg Chapman is going to be here in the North East to be part of our shenanigans at Ryhope Engines Steampunk Market, we have found a venue up here for him to stage his new show, "Greg Chapman's Magic of the Dinosaurs" which is proving very popular, with new dates and venues being added all the time.

You can catch this show, at Trimdon Station Community Centre, on Friday May 26th, doors open 7pm, subsidised bar, and at the really affordable price of just £5 a ticket, with early tickets going for just £4. https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/gregchapman/greg-chapmans-magic-of-the-dinosaurs-trimdon-station-community-centre/e-myvkya?fbclid=IwAR1CRAwDGmRPf6n6PE7RWhXx4pBGOwsJHT74kAXkEqAPrzg0k0lto-Zlngs

At the moment, because this is a new show, I don't yet have decent publicity photographs from it - these will follow in due course, the important thing to do is get your tickets early (with the discount) and tell your friends - let's make a fabulous evening of it, dressing up optional but fun, and prove to Greg it would be worth his while doing more shows up here in the North East. Make it worth the trek from his island home, 3,500 miles off the coast of Africa.....
