2 glorious days of beautiful sandy beaches and clear warm seas…who needs the Caribbean, Scotland has THE best beaches.

My morning walk with Mollie was stunning as the tide was out, stood watching a heron - we are staying opposite Fidra Island on Yellowcraig Beach. This afternoon we walked through the woodland to stay cool and a Roe Deer jumped out right in front of us! 🦌 (it was amazing!) then across the golf course onto the sand dunes.

Halloumi and red pepper kebabs devoured, now chilling out waiting for the eclipse 🌙

Fidra Island: It is famous as the inspiration for Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic novel Treasure Island and serves as a protected RSPB seabird reserve with a lighthouse built in 1885 and Ruins of a medieval chapel date back to 1165.

We won’t be at South Shields for the next two weekends (8th & 15th Aug) due to staff holidays but will be back on the 22nd!

A couple of finished projects to show from 2 of my ladies…1 reversible quilted ‘autumn’ jacket. 1 upcycled shirt.

Judith used a bedspread and unpicked the binding to re-use on the jacket, she changed the angle of the pockets and made French seams so totally reversible! ❤️

Ann-Marie upcycled a men’s shirt, removed the collar cut off 5cm from the hemline and made a frilled collar, altered and shortened the sleeves to add pleats and added diamond darts to the back to make it more fitted. ❤️

Both amazing upcycling projects, well done both x

Well who watched Sewing 🐝 last night? Best episode yet…no spoilers here but did you see the knickers?!? I for one have made all my own and still make them from upcycling t-shirts and jersey items! Shall I do another class?

It’s such a good fun workshop to do, learning the Burrito gusset method (hidden seams) and the best bit is, you’ll absolutely love wearing them. ❤️

3 more quilted jackets made up by my ladies on the last course…sorry forgot to show you! The yellow one is a velvet bedspread from Dunelm, it’s stunning 😍 I’d have been scared to cut it up 🫣

Another 4 in the making, hopefully they finish them next week they are all sooo different and beautiful, loving the use of all the bedspreads too.

Join Pink-collar Gallery at these upcoming Joy is Resistance community arts workshops ✨

Mondays | 6pm–8pm | Port Independent | £5 per session | All welcome

Joy is Resistance is a programme of collaborative creative workshops celebrating women's stories, creativity and lived experience. The project will bring participants together to create two collaborative artworks for an upcoming exhibition at Culture House Sunderland.

The workshops at Port Independent are open to all, of all skill levels, and no previous arts experience is needed. Participants can attend one workshop, join a full series, or take part in both projects. All materials will be provided.

I Am the Story is a community-led embroidery project centring women’s lives, identities and stories through stitched portraiture. Participants will create their own embroidered portrait, honouring their stories, memories, experiences and reflections. The work created will become part of a collaborative final piece, forming a powerful visual archive around value, visibility and cultural memory.

Signs of Strength invites participants to create bold, text-based artworks inspired by their own experiences, values and hopes. Drawing inspiration from community organising and social justice movements, participants will explore typography, colour and printmaking techniques to create work that inspires, encourages and empowers.

The final pieces will become part of a collaborative wall of words and images celebrating women’s voices, resilience, solidarity and self-expression.
