The UK uses an estimated 20 to 35 million rolls of masking tape annually. In terms of total length, this amounts to roughly 1, 000, 000 to 1, 750, 000 km of tape every year-enough to wrap around the Earth roughly 25 to 44 times.

The decorating industry requires masking tape on a daily basis, so eliminating it completely is an impossible task. The paper in most cases could be recycled but the glue used means that it CANNOT be recycled.

Masking one double socket entrirely can use around 65cm of tape each time. We invented the Sili Boys covers to help reduce masking tape use in specific areas of the decorators/sprayers day to day job, in the hope of reducing longterm costs and waste to landfill.
