Creativity that builds skills and confidence!

Our trainees work alongside staff to create our handmade coasters, learning new skills and gaining practical experience throughout the process.

From developing their creativity through the creation of original designs, to building confidence and taking pride in seeing their finished products on our shop floor. Every session is an opportunity to learn something new.

And the best bit? You can support their hard work by purchasing a coaster for yourself or as a gift!

🎉 14 years of growth, creativity and community! 🎉

This month, and Interestingly Different turn 14! 🥳 So, we’ve been looking back at how our shop has changed over the years, and what a journey it’s been!

But it’s not just our shop that’s grown. Nickel Support has grown and evolved too. 💛

✨ From welcoming our very first trainee to now supporting 155 adults with learning disabilities across South London.

✨ From a team of just 2 to an amazing team of 35.

✨ From a small beginning to a wonderful community of staff, trainees, families and local supporters who make everything we do possible.

We couldn’t be prouder of how far we’ve come and the opportunities we’ve created along the way.

And the exciting part? We’re getting ready to turn the page and start our next chapter in our new home very soon!

Thank you to everyone who has been part of our journey so far. Here’s to the next chapter! 💛

👀 Come and take a sneak peek inside our new building!

It might look like an empty shell right now, but we’ve got big plans!

There’s still lots to do to transform this space into a home for Nickel Support and Interestingly Different, filled with our creativity, personality and purpose.

It’s going to be a busy few months, but we couldn’t be more excited about what’s ahead and the opportunities this new space will bring for our trainees. 💛

Come along for the journey! We can’t wait to share our progress as we turn this empty space into something special. Watch this space… 👀

🚨 WE’RE MOVING! 🎉💛

We’ve got some BIG news to share…

Interestingly Different is getting a brand-new home in the heart of Carshalton! 🏠✨

We’re moving just around the corner to The Old Fire Station, 2 The Square, Carshalton, just off the High Street!

And this isn’t just about a new shopfront. We’re creating a space with even bigger possibilities!

🛍️ A bigger, brighter shop filled with our unique handmade gifts, homeware and upcycled furniture.

🎨 A dedicated creative workshop for art, candle-making, printing and plenty more creativity.

💛 More opportunities for the adults with learning disabilities and/or autism we support at Nickel Support to develop skills, build confidence and gain valuable work experience.

Being right in the heart of Carshalton means more people discovering what we do, more customers shopping with purpose and more opportunities to showcase the incredible talents of our trainees.

We’re hoping to open our new doors at the beginning of December, and there’s lots to do before then!

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be taking you behind the scenes as we transform the building, sharing renovation updates, sneak peeks and introducing you to the people helping bring our new home to life.

New building. Same purpose. Bigger possibilities. 💛

We can’t wait to welcome you!

👀 Follow along for the journey. It’s going to be an exciting few weeks!

From our trainees drawings to unique gifts! 🎨

During our art sessions, trainees create original designs that are transformed into products such as mugs, tea towels, tote bags and cards. You can then find these designs brought to life in our shop in Carshalton. Where our trainees also gain valuable experience working on the shop floor and supporting customers.

Why not pop in, explore our range and find something you love? Every purchase helps celebrate our trainees’ creativity and supports the skills they develop along the way. 🛍️

Meet Dave, our Enterprise Manager! 🖤💛

Having been part of Nickel for over nine years, Dave supports our trainees to build confidence, develop new skills and gain valuable experience in customer service, retail and product development. He’s also the best morning coffee maker around!

From overseeing the product development in upcycling, Jesmonite and candle-making to supporting trainees on the shop floor, no two days are the same.

For Dave, it’s the trainees themselves who make the job so rewarding and continue to challenge perceptions of what people with learning disabilities can achieve.
