I haven’t made the Tessuti Alba Pants yet, but they are very high on my summer sewing wishlist.
They have that modern, wide-leg trouser shape I love, but with a really clever mix of details: a proper fly-front zip at the front, so they look smart and polished, and an elasticated waistband at the back, so they still feel comfortable and easy to wear.
Basically, the dream combination: sleek from the front, comfy from the back, and relaxed enough for everyday summer outfits.
I’d love to make them in a linen blend, yarn dyed cotton or denim for that effortless goes with everything vibe.
And if the fly-front zip is the part that makes you nervous, we’ve recently filmed a full step-by-step tutorial on our YouTube channel showing you exactly how to sew one.
Would you sew these?
You’ll find the Alba Pants pattern on our website, and our fly-front zip tutorial is over on YouTube if you’d like a bit of extra help with those.
The tutorial is for a fly front zip with a waistband (the Albas dont have one) so we would recommend following the Alba pants instructions, but it can sometimes be super helpful to watch a video and have the steps explained in simple English with the 'why' explained. If you understand how and why it works it makes any variation easier to get your head around going forward.
