What an amazing couple of days Usborne treated us to in Crewe this week! A hotel with beautiful grounds, spa options and delicious food. Added to that, we caught up with our colleagues and HO staff who keep things running smoothly in the background, plus some innovative ideas from the speakers, so we also learned lots. Exhausted now, but I have the weekend to recover. So nice to be recognised for our hard work 🥰 ###

Today is my Usborne anniversary - I joined the company (again) 8 years ago today and wish I’d done it sooner. Overall, I’ve clocked up over 20 years experience of working with the award winning books. The amount of friends I have made within the company and also in schools and nurseries across South Wales has been amazing. Also, when other work ground to a halt in 2020, Usborne was still there with our online presence to cushion the blow when I wasn’t furloughed by my main job.

My personal library has built up so much that it hugely benefits my friends and family. I love that I can make such a positive contribution to their literacy and that I also provide a valuable service to my community.

These beautifully produced Shakespearean plays are especially designed for young readers of age 7+, giving a head start on the stories before needing to study the original versions later on in their school life.

I studied Macbeth when I was 16, saw Twelfth Night in Stratford a few years later, saw Hamlet a couple of years ago by a local Shakespeare company, but my favourite by far is The Tempest. I’ve taught it in school, privately coached pupils for exams in it and last, but not least it is the play that the wonderful musical ‘Return To The Forbidden Planet’ is based on.
