📢 IMPORTANT NOTICE – NEW PHARMACY SYSTEM

From Monday 17th August, Ysgol Street Pharmacy will be moving to a brand-new pharmacy computer and dispensing system, TITAN PMR.

This is a significant upgrade for the pharmacy and, once fully established, will help us improve the safety and efficiency of our prescription service and how we manage prescriptions through the pharmacy.

Our team have been preparing and training for the change, but as with any major new system, it may take us a little time to get used to it!

During the first few days, prescriptions and some pharmacy services may take a little longer than usual. We will be working hard to keep any disruption to a minimum.

The pharmacy will be open as normal, and if you require medication urgently, please let a member of the team know.

We really appreciate your patience and understanding while we make this important change.

As a reminder to our patients, Ysgol Street Pharmacy will be closed on Friday 31st July to allow our team to attend the funeral of our much-loved colleague and dear friend, Muriel.

Muriel dedicated her life to caring for our community, and it means a great deal to us that we are able to come together to celebrate her life and pay our respects.

We apologise for any inconvenience this temporary closure may cause and kindly ask that you collect any urgent prescriptions before Friday if possible.

The pharmacy will reopen as normal on Monday 3rd August.

Thank you for your understanding, kindness and support during this difficult time.

The funeral details are included below for anyone who wishes to pay their respects.

It is with great sadness that we remember our wonderful colleague and dear friend, Muriel, who sadly passed away after a short and brave battle with cancer.

Muriel dedicated over 50 years to community pharmacy, beginning her career at just 17 years old and continuing to care for the people of Port Tennant, St Thomas and the wider Swansea area until the age of 70. Throughout her career, she continually developed her knowledge and skills, eventually achieving the highly respected Accuracy Checking Technician (ACT) qualification. It was a testament to her exceptional attention to detail, professionalism and unwavering commitment to delivering the highest standard of care. Over those decades, she became a trusted and familiar face to generations of local families, always greeting everyone with kindness, compassion and a smile.

To us, Muriel was much more than a colleague. She was a dear friend and an integral part of our pharmacy family. Her warmth, generosity and dedication to both her patients and her colleagues made her truly one of a kind. She touched the lives of countless people, and her absence will be felt deeply by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Our thoughts remain with Stuart, Becca, Sam and all of Muriel’s family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.

As a mark of respect, and to allow all of our team to attend Muriel’s funeral together, Ysgol Street Pharmacy will be closed on Friday 31st July. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and thank all of our patients for their kindness, understanding and support during this difficult time.

Muriel’s legacy lives on in the care she gave, the friendships she built and the difference she made to so many lives over more than half a century of service. She will never be forgotten.

Rest in peace, Muriel. 💙
