Today’s new arrival

Griffin Transport have just left having delivered this beautiful Grotrian-Steinweg G118. Having sat and played it I can confirm that it is indeed an extraordinarily fine quality piano. If you are looking for a reason to visit the showroom, this could be it!

Friday visitor

An enjoyable Friday at the showroom accompanied by four month old Mabel, the cocker spaniel. The day started with a walk in the nearby woods, now it’s on to preparing a K300, a Challen grand and a Kemble upright ready to leave the showroom next week. Happy Friday everyone 😊

Oh my word…

Look what arrived at the showroom today! Firstly, the impossibly beautiful Shigeru SK3 grand piano. This piano is a thing of absolute beauty, everything about it exudes quality. Secondly, the Kawai K700, an impressive upright, mellow rich and responsive. And thirdly, the rather fun K300 AURES, complete with headphones for silent playing. What a trio to sit and enjoy on a Wednesday afternoon. Visitors always welcome

A fantastic day tuning

What a day working in a Sauter grand, Sauter upright and Grotrian-Steinweg upright. All are beautiful instruments and a joy to tune. The wonderful mix of tuning and time at the showroom makes for a very charmed life. A tuning day doesn’t get any better than this…😊

In its new home

This is the wonderful 165cm Grotrian-Steinweg in its new home, looking and sounding magnificent. I enjoyed coffee and cake with its new owner today to share in the excitement of its arrival. A highly satisfying placement of a very fine piano.

An unusual old friend

I tuned this very unusual looking grand piano this morning which was very nostalgic for me. I have known this piano for around 30 years, overseen its restoration and sadly the passing of its owner. It is a very appealing old German grand with a beautiful, mellow tonal quality. The cabinet has been beautifully hand painted with Japanese scenes, I can’t quite recall the story behind this but it makes for a very unusual and unique looking piano. Its new owners are thrilled to have it, after a thorough tuning session it is sounding back to its best. It was great to see it again and I know Reg, its previous owner, would be delighted that it is thriving and being enjoyed again

Grotrian-Steinweg farewell

Friday at the showroom and final preparations on our Grotrian-Steinweg 165 grand piano. This piano was selected some time ago but has sat patiently with us until the customers home was extended to house it! It finally leaves us next week, I’m delighted for the customer but also a little sad to see it go. Fortunately, it is well within our tuning radius so I will enjoy looking after it in the future 😊

A craftsman at work

Friday at the showroom and Robin is enjoying the warmth of the sun while he buffs the top lid of a grand piano. A master of his craft and always good company for a pub lunch. I have just tuned a Kawai GX1 grand piano ready for delivery next week, it sounds wonderful. I love Fridays….

A terrible message…conclusion

Thank you to the 93K of you who viewed the previous post about the Grotrian-Steinweg upright that fell on to its back
I am happy to report that I spent a very enjoyable morning today replacing broken parts, repairing, regulating, tuning and voicing the piano. It is back to its beautiful best, none the worse for its fall, and sounding amazing. Thankfully, my customer is also on the way to full health with some physio sessions to assist recovery. All’s well that ends well
