I’m genuinely baffled.
People will happily spend money on a plastic thing whose entire purpose is to:
* click aimlessly,
* spin endlessly,
* or be squeezed because someone printed a face on it.
No judgement — if it makes you happy, crack on.
But then I put out a handmade set of dominoes for a tenner, after spending about £7 just on materials, cutting, sanding, finishing and assembling them, and the response is:
“Ooh, pretty!”
…and then they walk away.
So a little blob with googly eyes that does absolutely nothing? Sold.
A handcrafted game that can actually be played, will last for years, and was made by an actual human? Apparently just a decorative conversation piece.
I’m not even annoyed at this point. I’m just fascinated by the economics of human behaviour. 🤣
“Ooh, pretty” doesn’t quite cover my material costs, unfortunately. 😅
