💚 A LITTLE UPDATE FROM HEART OF TAMWORTH PRE-LOVED CLOTHES SHOP 💚

We’re sorry this post has had to take a firmer tone than our usual messages, but after an upsetting incident with a very rude and aggressive donor today, we feel we need to explain why these boundaries are important.

At the moment, we are NOT accepting summer clothing donations. ☀️

This isn't a decision we make lightly, and it certainly isn't because we don't appreciate your generosity. We simply have limited storage space and need to clear and organise our autumn/winter stock first.

We know that everyone has different circumstances, and wherever we can, we will always try to understand a donor's situation. If you're unsure whether we're currently able to accept something, please ask us first.

Our volunteers are absolutely amazing. ❤️ They give their time, work incredibly hard and do a wonderful job helping us sort donations, run the shop and support our community.

My responsibility as the shop manager is to look after that team and help provide a safe working environment. Health and safety isn't something we can simply overlook, and everyone who works or volunteers here deserves to feel safe and respected.

That means rudeness, aggression, shouting, intimidation or abusive behaviour towards our team will not be tolerated.

Please be kind and polite to our volunteers and staff, even when the answer isn't the one you were hoping for.

Being aggressive or rude will not change what we can accept. It will only make an already difficult situation harder for everyone.

And please, DO NOT leave donations outside the shop.

Leaving unwanted donations outside is fly-tipping and, where this happens, we will report it to the council. We have CCTV in operation.

We genuinely don't want to have to say all of this. 💚

The overwhelming majority of people who donate to us are absolutely lovely, thoughtful and supportive, and we are incredibly grateful for every single one of you.

This is about protecting our amazing team, managing the limited space we have and making sure Heart of Tamworth remains a welcoming and safe place for everyone.

Just a really polite reminder not to just leave donations outside our shop. 🤩

We have signs at the front door, but for some reason this person thought that meant put them at the back door.

It does not mean that at all. It means wait until we are open and speak to a member of our team ☺️

We know how frustrating it must be to come and find we are closed. But we are open weekdays 10am to 3pm. We take donations during this time if we are able. It can depend on space, number of volunteers, stock levels, the weather and many other outside factors you do not see or understand.

We do not say no to be difficult, or to make your lives any harder. I say no because as a manager it's my job to keep my volunteering team safe from harm. Health and safety is a massive issue in charity retail. Space is at a premium, and I must always prioritise my teams wellbeing.

☀️ Hot Weather Update – Thursday & Friday ☀️
The Heart of Tamworth Pre-Loved Clothes Shop

With temperatures expected to reach 33°C over the next couple of days, we're making a small change to help keep our volunteers and staff safe.

🛍️ Our shop will remain OPEN as normal for shopping from 10:00am–3:00pm.

However, we kindly ask that you avoid bringing large donations on Thursday and Friday.

If you only have one or two small carrier bags of clothing, we may be able to accept them depending on the space we have available. Please speak to a member of our team before bringing them in.

At the moment, we are unable to accept large donations as our donation storage area is full, and we want to avoid our volunteers having to work in extreme heat.

We really appreciate your understanding and support. Your kindness helps us look after both our team and your generous donations.

💚 Help Us Complete Our Men's Clothing Packs 💚

We're busy preparing our first clothing packs in partnership with Wear One, Share One by We Are Oi (OutsideIn), and we can't wait to get them ready to support local men experiencing homelessness or financial hardship.

Each pack already includes brand new: 🧦 Socks 👕 T-shirts 🩲 Underwear 🧢 Beanies

Now we just need the finishing touches...

We're appealing for donations of: 👖 Men's tracksuit bottoms 🧥 Men's hoodies

We're looking for items that are:
✅ Freshly washed
✅ In good condition
✅ Ready to wear
❌ Please no worn, faded, bobbled or damaged items.

These packs are about restoring dignity as much as providing clothing. We want every person receiving one to feel valued and cared for.

🙏Please note: The packs are still being prepared and are not yet available. Once everything is in place, we'll share details about how they'll be accessed through the appropriate Heart of Tamworth support process.

💚 Could You Spare a Few Hours to Help Your Community? 💚

We're looking for a few extra volunteers to join our amazing team at the Heart of Tamworth Pre-Loved Clothes Shop.

We currently have vacancies for:

🕛 Thursday afternoons – 12:00pm to 3:00pm
🕛 Friday afternoons – 12:00pm to 3:00pm

Whether you can help with one shift or both, we'd love to hear from you!

🙏We're also looking for a flexible volunteer who can help with a few shifts during the week. These days may vary from week to week, so this role would suit someone with a little flexibility who enjoys variety.

No retail experience is needed—just a friendly attitude, a willingness to learn, and a passion for helping others. Our volunteers help sort donations, replenish stock, create welcoming displays, assist customers and support the work of the Heart of Tamworth.

By volunteering with us, you'll be helping to: 💚 Support local people and families.
♻️ Give pre-loved clothing a second life.
🤝 Be part of a welcoming and supportive team. 🌍 Help make our community more sustainable.

💚 Can You Help Us Make a Difference? 💚

At the Heart of Tamworth Pre-Loved Clothes Shop, we're proud to be working in partnership with Wear One, Share One by We Are Oi to create essential men's clothing packs for people in our community who are experiencing homelessness or facing financial hardship.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of Wear One, Share One, each pack already includes brand new: 🧦 Socks
👕 T-shirts
🩲 Underwear
🧢 Beanies

Now we'd love your help to complete each pack.

We're currently looking for donations of: 👖 Men's tracksuit bottoms (all adult sizes, especially S–XL) 🧥 Men's hoodies (all adult sizes)

We're looking for items that are: ✅ Clean
✅ In good condition
✅ Ready to wear

A warm hoodie and comfortable tracksuit bottoms can make a real difference to someone going through a difficult time. These packs are about more than just clothing—they're about providing dignity, comfort and practical support when it's needed most.

Please note: These packs are currently being created and are not yet available. Once the project is complete, we will announce how the packs will be accessed. They will be issued through the appropriate Heart of Tamworth support process to ensure they reach those who need them most, so please keep an eye on our page for future updates.

At the moment, we are creating men's packs, with plans to expand to women's and children's packs in the future as the project grows.
