Well… this made me smile. 💕

This is the first Wren & Bramble loyalty card to be completely filled.

Nine visits.

Nine little pockets of time spent making, chatting, trying things, switching off, coming back, and becoming part of this place.

And visit number ten is on me. 🫶

When I set Wren & Bramble up, I hoped people might come once and enjoy it.

I don’t think I fully let myself imagine that people would keep coming back often enough to fill a whole card.

That means a lot.

So this is a tiny celebration of our first completely full loyalty card, and of the fact that Wren & Bramble is slowly becoming somewhere people return to, not just somewhere they try once.

If you’ve been meaning to come for your first visit, tomorrow’s a quiet day, it might be a good day to pop round, especially if you’re feeling a little nervous. I’m open from 9:30am–8pm and there’s plenty of space throughout the day. ☺️ Adults between 9:30-11:30, children between 12-2, teenagers after school 4-6 and adults in the evening 6:30-8:30.

Come for a coffee, make something, try something new, or just give yourself a couple of quieter hours.

Or maybe your teenager would benefit from a little midweek break, they could bring a friend and enjoy some crafting and a hot chocolate together. ☕️

Nine visits down. Number ten is free. 🥹

Pause & Create now has two ways to join. 😍

The original £12 Simple Materials option is staying exactly as it is: a calm evening, a drink, and a smaller selection of easy, low-pressure materials to create with.

But if you fancy a little more choice, you can now choose the Standard Materials option too:

£24 - Standard price
£18 - Concession price

That gives you access to the wider Wren & Bramble materials and more freedom to explore what you feel like making that evening.

So you can keep it simple for £12, or choose the fuller creative option if you want a little more.

Same calm Wednesday evening.
Same no-pressure atmosphere.
Just more choice. 😁

Today is World Su***de Prevention Day. 🤎

Sometimes we imagine that helping someone means knowing exactly what to say.

It doesn’t.

Sometimes it looks like noticing that someone has gone quiet.

Sending the message.

Asking twice.

Sitting beside them without trying to fix anything.

Listening when the answer isn’t comfortable.

Reminding someone that they don’t have to carry everything alone.

And sometimes it means helping them reach someone who can offer more support than we can.

At Wren & Bramble, I talk a lot about creating somewhere softer to land. Today feels like an important reminder that people need those softer places in life too: people who notice, people who listen, and spaces where we don’t have to pretend everything is fine.

If today feels particularly heavy for you, please tell someone. You do not need to wait until things are “bad enough” to ask for help.

Samaritans: 116 123 - it’s free and available 24 hours a day.

If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 999 or go to A&E.

And if someone came to mind while you were reading this, maybe today is the day to send the message. 🤎

Apparently this is what ChatGPT would warn people about before meeting me for the first time… and, annoyingly, it’s quite accurate! 😂

A lot of ideas.
A lot of questions.
A strong sense of justice.
Very little patience for things that make absolutely no sense.
And apparently if I say, “I’ve just had an idea…” everyone should clear their diary.

Fair.

But underneath the chaos, the overthinking and the unreasonable number of projects, it probably explains quite a lot about Wren & Bramble too.

I wanted to create a place where you don’t have to perform, impress anyone, be “good at art” or have it all together.

You can just turn up as you are.

So now I want to know the real version of you too 👀

Ask ChatGPT:

“If someone was about to meet me for the first time and you had to warn them about me, what would you say?”

Then share the answer.

No polished bios.
No “I love coffee and long walks”.
Give us the blunt version 😂

Let’s actually get to know each other a bit better.

I’ll go first… I’m Nicola 👋 and apparently my warning label is:
“Big heart, high-energy brain, questionable respect for the reasonable number of projects one person should undertake at once.”

Accurate. 💜

I’ve spent a year building something for everyone else. Today was for us. ❤️

This isn’t really a Wren & Bramble post, but it still feels like it belongs here.

Because building this place has taken so much of me this year: time, energy, headspace, weekends, evenings, and a lot of moments where River has simply come along for the ride.

And today was a reminder that slowing down isn’t only something I want to create for other people.

I need it too.

So this morning I got to just be his mum for a little while. No work. No deadlines. No trying to squeeze one more thing in.

Just us.

That felt more important than I expected. ⭐️

💚 Thank you, Baby Sensory Chorley , for giving us that little pocket of time. 💛

And yes… I still knew all the songs. 😂

Halloween, but make it gentle. 🍂✨

No scares. No sugar-rush chaos. No pressure to make the same thing as everyone else.

Just six children, six grown-ups, beautiful materials, a tiny mysterious door… and two hours to imagine what might be hiding beyond it.

At The Curious & Magical Making Day, each child and their grown-up will create side by side - building hidden worlds, making curious little clay discoveries, drawing maps, inventing strange plants and creatures, and following their own ideas wherever they go.

The grown-ups aren’t there just to supervise either.

This one is about making together.

One child. One grown-up. A little pocket of time that belongs just to the two of you. 🤍

There’ll be autumnal materials, warm drinks, a calm space, plenty of choice and absolutely no scary Halloween themes.

Saturday 31st October
1:30–3:30pm
Ages 7+
£36 per child + grown-up pair
Only 6 pairs

Bookings will open soon.

If there’s a child you’d love to spend an afternoon creating with, save this post, or tag the grown-up you think should come with them. 🍁

First Wren & Bramble party: survived. 😂

Eco Resin, lots of colour, lots of making, and one very carefully arranged table that lasted approximately ten minutes.

Exactly as it should.

I’ve already got two more parties booked in this month, which feels very exciting! I’d love creative celebrations to become a regular part of Wren & Bramble.

If you’ve got a birthday, family get-together or just a good excuse to gather your favourite people around a table and make something together, party, celebration and gathering bookings are open.

The clean-up took over two hours.

No, I did not film it.

Some things are best kept private. 😅

If the women before us could see us now… what do you think they’d notice first? 🤍

A room of women, gathered after dark.
Making things with our hands. Talking. Laughing. Remembering. Creating. Choosing what feels right for us.

That’s the idea behind Witches’ Night.

On 29th October, Wren & Bramble will become a candlelit space for just 12 women to slow down and spend an evening creating together.

There’ll be little memory books, botanical clay, slow stitching and shared thread, plus two quiet sand-tray invitations honouring the women who came before us and thinking about what we hope to leave for those who come after.

Nothing has to be shared.
Nothing has to be profound.
You don’t need to be “creative”.

You can simply come, make, chat, sit quietly, remember someone, think about the future... or just enjoy two hours in the company of others.

29th October • 6:30–8:30pm • Tarleton
Only 12 places will be available.

✨ Bookings will be opening very soon.

If there’s a woman, witch or wonderful human you’d love to spend this evening with, tag them below so they see it too.

If the women before us could see us now…
I hope they’d be glad we made time to sit around the table together. 🤍

I’ve been quietly working on something new behind the scenes at Wren & Bramble…

KIT & CREATE 🎈

It’s an idea I’ve had for a while — taking some of the things I love making and turning them into really clear, gentle step-by-step guides so you can create them at home too.

Not a “make yours exactly like mine” kinda guide.
More: here’s a helping hand, now make it yours.

The first PDFs I’m working on are for Kinusaiga: the Japanese-inspired technique of creating pictures using pieces of fabric tucked into a design rather than sewn.

I particularly love the idea of using fabrics that already mean something to you: an old shirt, baby’s first outfit and precious clothes, a scarf, a piece of fabric connected to a person or a place. The guide gives you the structure, but the finished piece becomes completely yours.

The first design is based on Balcary Bay, Scotland, and I’m working on a collection inspired by special places around the UK.

These will eventually be available as downloadable PDFs through Etsy, so you can buy the guide, gather your own materials and make them whenever you fancy.

And apparently my brain has now decided Kit & Create should become much more than Kinusaiga… because I’ve also disappeared down a rather lovely rabbit hole involving sand, small worlds and some very simple, beautiful, creative play ideas. 👀

I’m not quite ready to show you all of that yet.

But I’d love to know… would you buy a creative PDF if it showed you exactly what you needed and walked you through it step by step in a really simple and friendly way?

And would you rather buy just the digital guide, or have the option of a small materials/starter kit too?

They’re going back to school. You’re allowed to come back to yourself. 🤎

The uniforms are labelled.
The shoes have been sorted.
The lunchboxes are ready.

And after weeks of days out, snack requests, late bedtimes, washing, refereeing, entertaining, packing, unpacking and hearing “what are we doing today?”…

Suddenly, it’s quiet.

So maybe the first thing on your list doesn’t need to be catching up on everything you didn’t manage over summer.

Maybe you message the friends you’ve spent six weeks saying, “we need to catch up properly” to meet at Wren & Bramble.

Get a coffee. Choose something to make. Sit around the table and finally hear all about each other’s summers without somebody needing a snack halfway through the story.

Paint. Create with clay. Start a mosaic. Bring your crochet. Make something wonderfully pointless.

Or spend more time chatting than creating. That’s allowed too. ☺️

You don’t need to book a whole group or organise anything special. Just choose the same session, turn up, grab a drink and find yourselves a spot together.

The children are back to school.

Maybe it’s your turn to have a playdate. 💕

Tag the person you’re overdue a coffee with.
