The gorgeous Duckhead Unbrellas have been catching a lot of eyes from passers by in the shop window recently šŸ¦†

The duck shaped handle is made out of birch wood and I love how the bills match the canopy colour! Theyā€™re weighty and luxury and the button is a real pleasure to press to pop the umbrella open automatically!

Currently available in six lovely colours, in the shop and also just added to my website if you wanted to place an online order or a click & collect to pick up.

1140 litres of refills.
2850 refills done.
Every single one of those is a new bottle not bought.
An old one reused. Most many times over.

Pronounced ā€œhoo-gahā€ it has no real English translation but is a Danish concept capturing that deep sense of comfort, safety and mental wellbeing that being warm indoors brings. Lit candles, sharing food with friends, appreciating the little moments.

Thereā€™s three brand new peanut butters and this so far is my favourite! Thereā€™s something really comforting and hygge about the taste of sticky salted dates in creamy gooey peanut butter. Perfect for slow mornings on a thick slice of sourdough šŸ‘Œ

Throws are quintessentially hygge! Snuggling under a soft blanket while the evening draws in is one of lifeā€™s little pleasures. These throws are like many of ReSpiinā€™s products made from upcycling waste and other elements. Made from recycled wool in a gorgeous soft herringbone design theyā€™ll keep you warm and cosy.

Iā€™ve finally found a really awesome range of soy wax candles to stock, and candles are the perfect way to rocket boost your hygge vibes! Made in small batches in Cornwall thereā€™s this lush Pumpkin Spice scent, alongside Apple & Cinnamon, and also Wild Fig & Cassis. All well worth a sniff to see which is your favourite šŸ˜Œ

Soft home decor like these trio of handled baskets help to soften your home while providing great practical storage. Responsibly made from jute in Bangladesh their neutral colours make them a great gift for any home where the contents can always add a pop of colour if needed!

In my mind hygge and hot chocolate are inextricably linked. And this Solstace blend from Harth of Bath is perhaps the most cosy! Winter spiced with cinnamon, ginger, clove and nutmeg it really is a luxurious hug in a mug.

Sadly we canā€™t stay in our candle-lit homes snuggled under blankets sipping on hot chocolate all day long, so if braving the elements is needed then doing it in style works! Iā€™ve got a beautiful range of Original Duckhead umbrellas in stock in lovely colours. Autumn has arrived here at Tare & Tide with some beautiful, ethical, plastic-free homewares and gifts. From decadent peanut butters to soft recycled wool throws, stunning Original Duckhead umbrellas and even vegan lip balms and local crafts.

And of course thereā€™s still over 100 options of refills, the pickā€™nā€™mix sweets and the less exciting but still important household essentials too!

Unfortunately a couple of 'lovely' men have decided their best course of action is to leave disparaging and weird reviews about the shop on Google over the weekend, undoubtedly having had their feelings hurt from my attendance of the Somerset Against Racism and Fascism (SARAF) counter protest and the fact I just believe we shouldn't be de-humanising anyone on this small wonderful planet.

Thankfully Google has a reporting mechanism so they'll hopefully be removed in due course (unlike Facebook) but I guess it's as gooder (?) time as any to ask if you did feel like leaving a review then you can here - https://g.page/r/CUAtHWeK7Q4JEBM/review

The shop was absolutely heaving all day today, other than the 90 minutes I shut to attend the counter protest and add my voice (which I lost afterwards!) to the huge turn out. Using the platform that I have to speak out about issues is really important to me and clearly very important to you my wonderful customers and friends. The chats today on what couldā€™ve been a day of doom and gloom have been uplifting and reassuring. There are so many kind lovely people in this town and today you all did yourselves very proud. And just like that autumn arrives at Tare&Tide šŸ‚ and alongside the new windows is a whole new range of beautiful, cosy items! Throws, umbrellas, delicious peanut butters, lip balms, candlesā€¦ lovely things to help foster that soft, warm hygge feeling as we transition from that hot summer into winter.

The ā€˜on the goā€™ wall has had a huge injection of colour over the weekend šŸ˜ with brand new matchy matchy cups and bottles from Circular&Co.

These are made from recycled stainless steel so will keep your hot drinks hotter for longer, and cold drinks colder too. Perfect for the autumn and enjoying a PSL or a warming hot chocolate from Harth that I sell in the shop too! Iā€™ve even got the vegan marshmallows if you really fancy a bit of luxury šŸ‘Œ

This Saturday our beautiful town is once again going to be overrun by literally tens of angry white men imported from across the south west to come here and disrupt small businesses, intimidate shoppers and people just trying to have a lovely Saturday with their foul language and racist shouting.

I am once again choosing to close the shop for a bit to add my voice to the counter protest. This will be the second time Iā€™ve done so, and honestly Iā€™m sick of it. I donā€™t want to have to do this, to lose money on a Saturday, to have the town I call home treated like this, but I refuse to stand by and not do something. Last time it was amazing to see so many of my customers there adding their voices to the very loud message that hatred isnā€™t welcome here.

Iā€™ll be open this Saturday 9-12 and then 13:30-17:00. Tim x

As summer slowly turns towards Autumn I thought Iā€™d give a final mention to the wonderful seaside inspired range of goodies available in the shop before the cosy gifts and homewares are launched in the coming week or two!

Papercraft puffins, beautiful coasters and placemats, storage tins, tote bags, and amazing RNLI make it yourself lifeboats, where every sale makes a small donation to the charity and is a lovely way to show support to the brave volunteers who risk their lives to save others.
