We’ve just seen the cost of Taunton’s Christmas lights… 👀✨
Hopefully next year Magdalene Lane is getting lights put up by Taunton Town Council and honestly, we’re slightly worried the budget might need revising once they see how EXTRA this lane is 😏

Seriously now, huge thanks to the council for backing local areas and independent businesses, we can’t wait to see what they come up with ✨

No pressure or anything… 😉

Fantastic News!!!

🌟🌟They listened!!!🌟🌟
following the public consultation of sunday parking charges the decision has been made to defer the implementation of Sunday charges in car parks that are currently free on Sundays.

This doesn’t mean it will never happen and I think Somerset Council have a lot of work ahead of them…but for now at least the decision to not charge on a Sunday has been confirmed.

I’d like to thank leader Bill Revan for recognising the need to encourage footfall to our towns but I’d also like to highlight the fact that each location needs to be treated as a unique case…whilst some Towns need to encourage flow of customers due to limited car park spaces (he used the example of Burnham on Sea) other towns want to encourage people to stay longer and spend more over that time.

The suggestion that towns that are already paying for Sunday parking such as Minehead are subsidising the towns that have free Sunday parking doesn’t quite add up to me. I would argue that with its 2500+ council parking spaces in Taunton, our town is more than subsidising its own free Sunday parking with the money taken during the week…for reference Minehead has approx 600 spaces.

Anyway, for now let’s raise a glass to being listened!!
I look forward to what happens next but now my focus is on encouraging as many people as possible to my own business and the businesses throughout the town over the Christmas season!!
