🌿 A little update from Leaf & Stone… 🌿

We’ve been a little quieter about our Houseplant Club lately..and there’s a very good reason!

September has turned into a rather busy month behind the scenes as we get everything ready for Plant Bingo!

So, rather than trying to squeeze everything in, we’ve decided to give our Houseplant Club the attention it deserves and move our next gathering to October.

In the meantime, there’s still plenty happening, and Plant Bingo is coming up!
Expect plants, prizes, plenty of fun and, of course, the chance to meet other plant-loving people.

We also have spaces available on our table!
If you’d like to join us, bring a friend, or simply fancy an evening surrounded by fellow plant people, drop us a message and come along.

We’ll share more details about the October Houseplant Club very soon.

🌿 FERN FRIDAY 🌿

This week, we’re talking about two beautiful plants that often get grouped together, Maidenhair Ferns and Asparagus Ferns.
But despite their delicate, fern-like appearance, they have quite different needs!

Maidenhair Fern (Adiantum)
With its delicate, fan-shaped leaves and dark stems, the Maidenhair Fern is a real beauty …but it can be a little particular!

💧 Keep it consistently moist — it doesn’t enjoy drying out.
🌤️ Bright, indirect light is ideal. Avoid harsh direct sunlight.
💦 Humidity is key — these ferns thrive in humid conditions, so bathrooms can be a great spot if there’s plenty of natural light.
🍃 Remove any damaged or dead fronds to keep the plant looking fresh.

The golden rule with Maidenhair Ferns? Don’t let them dry out completely!

Asparagus Fern
Here’s a little Fern Friday fact… an Asparagus Fern isn’t actually a fern! It belongs to the Asparagus family, despite its wonderfully feathery, fern-like foliage.

🌤️ Bright, filtered or partial light
💧 Moist but well-drained soil
🌡️ Warm, sheltered conditions
✂️ A little support if its long, trailing stems start to wander

It can grow into an impressive, airy plant, making it a lovely choice for containers and sheltered spaces.

Our Fern Friday tip:
Both plants love moisture, but moist doesn’t mean soggy. Good drainage is just as important as regular watering.

What an absolutely amazing afternoon we had at our Leaf & Stone Afternoon Tea!

We are feeling incredibly grateful for everyone who came along, supported the event and helped make the afternoon such a wonderful success. It was lovely to see everyone coming together, enjoying some delicious food, having a chat and, most importantly, raising money for Breast Cancer Now. 💗

A huge thank you goes to everyone who kindly donated food for the afternoon tea. Your generosity helped us create such a fantastic spread, and we truly appreciate every single contribution.

We’d also like to say a massive thank you to everyone who donated prizes for our raffle. We have been overwhelmed by the generosity and support from everyone involved!

And of course, a huge thank you to everyone who bought raffle tickets and helped us raise as much money as possible. We have lots of winners, so we’ll be getting in touch with you all next week!

We are absolutely thrilled to say that, thanks to all of your support, we raised an incredible £442.24 for Breast Cancer Now!

We’re just pressing pause on Plant Club over the holidays so everyone can enjoy a bit of sunshine, holidays and hopefully a little less watering!

But don’t worry… Plant Club will be back up and running in September!

We’ll be ready to get back to all things plants, plant care, tips, advice and a bit of planty chat.

Don’t worry if you’re staying closer to home…our Tavistock shop is still open (with slightly limited stock while we’re at the fair), so you can still stop by and see us there too.

Here’s how to keep your Schefflera thriving!
🌱Light: Prefers bright, indirect light but will happily tolerate lower light conditions. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.

🌱Water: Allow the top few centimetres of soil to dry before watering. It’s better to underwater than overwater, as soggy roots can lead to root rot.

🌱Temperature: Loves normal indoor temperatures between and appreciates being kept away from cold draughts.

🌱Humidity: Average household humidity is usually fine, but an occasional mist or placing it near other plants can help keep the foliage looking its best.
