DONT PANIC..... We know we have customers who go between our 3 shops so we wanted to share news about our Exmouth shop, and also to reassure you about Honiton and Teignmouth
We have had to make the very sad and difficult decision to close our shop in Exmouth after 10 years in the town. Trade in Exmouth had become harder and harder in the last few years, and despite it being a big town the footfall and spend by locals which is the foundation for us and many other local businesses has reduced significantly. Sadly the townsfolk don't use their local businesses enough for us to continue there as the shop now costs more to run than it makes The decision has been a long time coming - we had continued to hope that trade would turn a corner but sadly this year hasn't proven that to be the case
The old adage use it or loose it has never been truer. It's challenging times for everyone - personally and as businesses - but it's never been more important than now to use your local town and businesses. Whether it's for a coffee, a snack, screws and tools, fruit and veg, sausages, a new outfit, a gift for someone, a card, tea bags, shampoo, party decs, notebook, bunch of flowers, photo frame, Halloween decs for trick or treat, sweets, a book, new shoes, watch strap, new keys cut, pet food, bread, cakes.... the list goes on and there is a good chance that you can find it amongst your local and independent businesses
Pls make your towns and local shops the first and not the last choice and resort - we are not just the centre of the towns geographically, but for many people also central to their community and personal interactions for many people. Local businesses employ local people, and spend back into the local community, and often buy stock locally and within the UK - whilst many big businesses and the online beasts avoid paying UK taxes and all the money leaves the area or indeed the country -
Or lines the pockets of shareholders and directors
Honiton and Teignmouth continue to have solid local and regional support and we are confident in our future trading in both locations. We want to reassure you that we have no plans to stop trading in either of these towns. Both are vibrant and diverse towns and we are committed to continuing our investment in our shops in them.
As I said - don't panic we aren't going anywhere in Honiton and Teignmouth and appreciate our lovely customers ongoing support for us and for the whole town
