Bringing their handcrafted goodies to our Summer market are:
Alison Miles Alison has been working with porcelain clay for many years. Whilst she openly admits it’s not a material she loves to work with, she perseveres with its fickleness because of the translucency that it produces when light is placed inside. With this in mind, she makes tea light houses, table lamps, tea light holders and candle vases to show off the qualities of porcelain, amongst a plethora of other pieces including decorations for around the home.

Fused Glass by Pippa Mainly self taught, Pippa fuses glass together in her kiln at the bottom of her garden in the village. Each piece has a minimum of 18 hours of kiln time, along side cutting each glass piece by hand, ensuring every item she makes is unique. Making wall art installations for show homes and holiday homes abroad, to bowls and coasters for every day use.

Introducing our line up of very talented artisan makers for our event at ullacombefarmshopandcafe on the 8th August, starting with Tracey
‘I’ve been designing and making knitwear since my early 20’s, initially in London but now from my Victorian-era studio in Bideford, north Devon. I’m inspired by colour juxtaposition and textural clash, which this landscape offers in abundance, and I translate them into soft, cosy accessories.” Tracey will be bringing her beautiful knit accessories for adults including berets, beanies, gloves, snoods, scarves and headbands. Also pixie hats for kids. All made from organic cotton or pure alpaca.

Also joining us is Lucy with her lovely willow basketry “Contemporary basketry using traditional methods made by Lucy Turner with home grown and locally sourced willow, incorporating leather and wood.” At her Worksop at home, Lucy experiments with traditional and modern weaving techniques to create a range of willow basketry. Having planted a range of willow in her Devon garden, Lucy now has a sustainable willow bed, which she uses for her work and as material for teaching workshops.

Elin Hughes | Woodfiring potter in Devon “Based at Kigbeare Studios on the edge of Dartmoor, Devon, I make gas and woodfired thrown tableware that strives to capture the warmth and groundedness that comes with sharing a meal. Combining soft forms with repetitive patterns, these pots impart a sense of comfort and intimacy.

Megan Flotsam Prints “Megan Hall is a traditional linocut artist and printmaker whose practice celebrates the tactile beauty of hand-carved blocks and ink on paper. Working with time-honoured techniques, she explores texture, mark-making and colour through the reduction method. Inspired by water as both muse and metaphor, her work reflects both movement and stillness.

Pippa from Fused Glass by Pippa
Pippa has been fusing glass in her kiln at home for the last 14 years. Mainly self taught, she uses different temperatures and processes to create a range of textures within her art, designing and making wall art and functional pieces. Some of which are positioned in house development show homes in Devon, and a home Barbados!

Welcoming also to Teign Artisans is Bridget
“I am Bridget a Cyanotype Artist working in Bovey Tracey on the edge of Dartmoor collecting plants and capturing them with Cyanotype chemicals and sunshine. Looking up close at what is around me and trying to stay in touch with nature, by bringing the outside in with my Cyanotype Lampshades also running workshops for people to come and tell their own story.

A few new pieces out of the kiln including some lidded pots 🎉, there’s a fair bit of warpage with the lids, thanks to the porcelain, but I guess this adds to their quirkiness! Some pieces will be coming to the Victoria Hall in Shaldon this coming Sunday 10-4pm
