With the kids heading back to school, September is the perfect time to do something just for you.

Daily reminder: Nobody's coming!!

Today's ajenda involved loading furniture into the car, lugging it into the shop, moving everything around... and discovering, yet again, that I'm not as tall as I'd like to be and wood screwed together is pretty heavy

no wonder my back pops more than a packet of microwave popcorn 👀

Building a business isn't always the pretty bits you see online. Sometimes it's just you, a to-do list that's got ideas above its station, and repeatedly saying, "It'll be fine..." while questioning every life decision halfway through.

My little man was behind the camera today, watching it all, I don't care if he remembers the furniture or the shop layout. I hope he remembers that I showed up. That I didn't give up when things were hard. That I kept building, even when nobody was clapping. And that everything I poured into this business was my way of trying to build the best life I could for him and his sister.

Right... I'm off to locate my spine. If anyone finds itbefore I do, send it back to Shelly's Creations. 😂🩷

I was supposed to be having a quiet weekend in... 😂

But let's be honest... I'm a Gemini with adhd traits. Sitting still was never really an option. 👀

So, instead of staying home, I did what I do best... I went wandering.

First stop? A little "casual snoop" around our September Sewing Retreat venue... which quickly turned into me accidentally introducing myself to the owner because I got caught snooping. 🤦🏼‍♀️😂 Thankfully, he was absolutely lovely! We had a brilliant chat, and now I know our December retreat is going to look like an absolute Christmas dream. 🎄

Then I "accidentally" found the cutest little wool shop (Crochet Club... I've got you 😉🧶).

AND... because I can't help myself from talking to people, I somehow managed to line up the chance to go back to Betws-y-Coed and learn how to repair hiking gear and outdoor clothing. Another random skill unlocked! 🔓😂

My brain is honestly like 47 browser tabs open at all times. 🤯 But I've realised something...

The adventures aren't distractions... they're where the ideas live.

Every place I visit, every conversation I have, every skill I learn somehow finds its way back to Shelly's Creations. That's how retreats happen. That's how new workshops are born. That's how this little dream keeps growing.

This weekend reminded me that if I really want to build the business I dream about, I need an incredible team around me. So the hunt is officially on... because Shelly's Creations has some BIG plans. 🩷

Turns out, the best ideas don't come from sitting still... they come from being brave enough to explore, ask questions, say yes to opportunities, and trust that the right path always seems to find you. And that's exactly how I plan on building this little empire. 🩷

Read..... 🩷 Somewhere along the way, so many of us stop wearing what lights us up and start wearing what helps us blend in.🩷

I was scrolling through old videos and found this one of my daughter and me singing. The second I heard it again, I knew it was the perfect soundtrack for this reel.
There was a time when she felt like she didn't quite fit in at school. Like so many little girls do, unfortunately there's so much of 'how you should look' or 'wear'

I used to sing this with her because I wanted her to know something I wish I'd truly believed when I was her age...
You were never made to fit into someone else's box

The truth is... I never fitted in either.
I was the weird lil chubby girl. The one who always felt a bit different. I spent years wondering why I couldn't just be like everyone else.

Now I realise... thank goodness I wasn't.
🩷 Because being different became my superpower.🩷

Over the years, I've found my confidence, my creativity, my joy, and the light that was always there, I just didn't always know how to let it shine.

Now I wear the bright colours. I make the dresses that make me feel magical. I stop for sunsets, dance when I feel like dancing, and create a life that feels like mine, not one that tries to fit someone else's idea of who I should be.

That's exactly what I'm trying to create at Shelly's Creations.

Yes, I teach sewing.
But what I'm really hoping to stitch back together is confidence.

A place where nobody cares what size you are, how old you are, what your background is, or whether you've ever touched a sewing machine before.
A place where you can simply be you.🩷
Where being different is celebrated, creativity is encouraged, and every single person leaves believing they're capable of creating something beautiful.
Because the clothes are never really the point.
The person wearing them is.
You should never have to shrink yourself to fit into the world...
And if even one person walks into Shelly's Creations feeling like they don't belong, but walks out feeling seen...
Then every stitch was worth it 🩷

Dress number 8... same pattern, different fabric... and I have absolutely no regrets. 😂🩷

This beauty is made from the gorgeous fabric I treated myself to in Bath, and I've come to one very important conclusion...

Buying fabric and sewing fabric are definitely two different hobbies... but life's far too short to leave the pretty fabric folded up on a shelf. 🩷

Wear the bold print. Make the dress. Be the one that stands out. Dress like the main character, the fairy tale princess, or the colourful ray of sunshine you feel like being today. 🩷

Pretty fabric deserves to be worn, not hoarded. Now... who's enabling me to buy fabric for dress number 9? 🩷

Something happened this weekend...

I realised my brain doesn't switch off anymore. 😂

Every beautiful street had me thinking, "I'd love to bring the ladies here." Mr pickles fabric shop became a must visit. Every little cafe, hidden corner and magical view had me quietly planning.

The sewing retreats this year sold out (thank you 🩷 ), but they've also made me realise something...

I don't just want to create weekends where we sew together. I want to create experiences.

🩷 I want to create retreats that feel like stepping into the pages of a storybook. Places where you wander cobbled streets, discover beautiful fabric shops, share incredible food, laugh until your cheeks hurt, and come home with not only handmade projects but memories you'll treasure forever.

For so many women, travelling alone feels daunting. So imagine being able to experience somewhere magical with a group of women who all share the same love of sewing, creativity and adventure. No pressure, no worrying about where to go or what to do just turning up and letting yourself be inspired.

Because creativity doesn't just happen at the sewing machine. It happens when you slow down, see beautiful places, meet wonderful people, try something new, and let yourself fall a little bit in love with the world again.

I've found somewhere that made me feel exactly like that this weekend... and I can't stop thinking about bringing you all there.

I think next year's retreats are about to become something really special. 🩷

I can't quite believe I'm saying this, but all of this year's Shelly's Creations Sewing Retreats have now sold out! 🩷

Still here... just working behind the scenes. 🩷

If I've been a little quieter on here lately, it's because there's been lots happening behind the scenes!

I've been busy planning retreats, filming Patreon content, learning new tech (which has definitely been stretching my brain! 🤣), working on the website, welcoming lots of new lovely ladies into workshops, and dreaming up exciting new ideas for Shelly's.

The shop has also been getting plenty of thought too... I'm planning a little refresh to make the space work even better, and my notebook is overflowing with ideas for the months ahead. ( just need to find a builder, or get my DIY groove on) Summer is looking exciting already, and yes... I've even started thinking about Christmas! 🎄🙈

There's so much I can't wait to share with you all, and I'm really excited about where Shelly's is heading. It's one of those seasons where there's a lot of planning and creating happening before you get to see the finished magic. 🩷

So don't worry... I'm still here, still being Shelly, still sewing, still laughing, still running workshops, and still absolutely loving every minute of building this little creative community. 🩷
