I’m sorry to say that The Manga Crate is closing.
The brick and mortar store’s last day of trading will be 25th August 2023
While the online store’s last day of trading will be 1st November 2023
This decision was difficult and not taken lightly or in haste.
The reasons for this decision are mostly personal, some less so.
Since opening The Manga Crate has made a good profit each month, even with the current state of the UK economy, heavily discounted books on every street corner and giant online companies like Amazon.
However, my personal circumstances have changed and so the profits are no longer enough anymore.
Money is not the only reason for this difficult decision, there are a number of more personal reasons also involved. I did not come to this decision easily. Rest assured I thought long and hard before coming to this decision.
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who bought a book, shared a social media post, told a friend or did anything which in anyway helped benefit The Manga Crate.
There’s just no way The Manga Crate would’ve existed for as long as it did without your brilliant support.
I’ve been very fortunate to meet so many amazing, supporting people from so many different walks of life. The support my little stall in the corner of the market has received has been phenomenal.
One of the things I’ll miss the most is the people. Those people who stop by the shop, grab a book, grab a quick chat and then continue with their day, and those who manage to find time in their day to stop for a good, long chat.
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed each and every one of our interactions.
