We always hate to see a maker leave, but we also believe in complete transparency about how a collaborative retail space works.
Running a successful handmade shop is a true partnership. At House of Evie, we provide the physical retail space, daily customer service, merchandising, and ongoing foot traffic. However, our maker agreements clearly outlines a mutual responsibility: artisans are contractually required to actively promote their own products and brand.
A shop can showcase your work, but no one can tell your creative story or drive your unique customer base quite like you can. When a maker chooses not to market their collection, a drop in their sales is the natural result—and it cannot fairly be blamed on the shop. A shopfront cannot build a brand for someone who isn't willing to put in the effort to promote themselves.
We are incredibly proud of our resident crafters who pour dedication into both their art and their marketing. Their hard work is what makes House of Evie such a vibrant, thriving place to shop. If you are a local artisan looking for a supportive, active retail community where we all pull together, we would love to hear from you.
