Did you know a group of Penguins in water is called a raft but on land they are called a waddle??
I was asked to make 5 penguins in 4 different sizes as gifts for a lady’s brother, sister and nephews from her mums clothing. After discussing the sizes of the penguins and clothing she would be sending, I was given free range to be creative. I wanted them to be the same but different so no two were exactly the same. What makes these penguins even more special is 3 of them are emigrating to Australia.
All 5 were hand delivered and then the 3 that were moving on were packed in hand luggage and made their way half way round the world. I’m glad to say they made it there safely and were well received.
I love making memory items. I hate the first cut of clothing, but once I get past that getting them made up into something that can be kept and cuddled is a great feeling especially when you get told how happy they make people.
So here they are the waddle of penguins.

It’s been a while since I got to do something completely different but today I went on another willow weaving workshop. It’s been 11 years since I last had a go. Last time was a Christmas angel this time it was a hare. Completely different technique but great fun. Willow weaving and wire work was the inspiration for loppychicks. From 6 woven hoops a hare is born
