It was great to see Geraint in the ‘2002 Petition Tee’. ⁣

Geraint was an extremely talented skater and one of the lads in my Dad’s team, back in 2002. ⁣
⁣
I’ve heard lots of stories about him skating the old mini-ramp, outside of the Saundersfoot Sports Club. ⁣
⁣
They petitioned for a skatepark to be built on a disused land-lot, between the sewage works and trailer park at the bottom of town.⁣
⁣
My Dad would hire the church minibus and take them on day trips to the big skateparks in Cardiff and Swansea to get an idea of what was to come.⁣
⁣
After a year of rallying, the council eventually refused the funding for a skatepark. That very talented team of skaters such as Geraint, never got a place of their own.⁣
⁣
These lads and their story are the reason behind all of this. ⁣
⁣

We’re a brand that promotes a better quality of life for working people. We come from a blue-collar town, that behind the postcard image and if you’re not financially stable enough, life can be really, really tough. There is a massive lack of opportunity, the highest child-poverty rate in Eastern Europe, a very low average income, and nowhere near enough social-housing being built. Now, with more prosperous families purchasing second homes in the area, those who work the only menial, low-paid jobs Tenby has to offer, simply cannot afford to stay here. My mom was declared homeless in 2017, after her house went from £450 a month to £850 a month. She had been an LSA at Tenby’s local primary school for 21 years. My farther is forced to live in an AirBnb, which is incredibly ironic. For those who work low-wage jobs and who cannot afford to buy their own home, life is really, really tough right now. ⁣
⁣
That’s why our entire manufacturing process supports this challenge. We’ve recently partnered with a unionized garment manufacturer in the U.S, who pay their experienced workers above the ‘living-wage’. They also support prison-reform schemes, which is something I am extremely passionate about. The quality is impeccable. There is nothing ‘sustainable’ about a brand who engage in offshoring and pay their workers in Haiti, Mexico, Vietnam or Taiwan, absolute pittance. ⁣
