We’re reminding everyone that businesses in Tipton town centre are open as usual as the final phase of work to improve public spaces continues along Owen Street.
Town centre car parks at Albion Street and New Cross Street remain open for shoppers – and parking is free for up to two hours.
We encourage all residents to support their local high street and shop local.
Traffic in Owen Street is currently running in a one-way direction from Alexandra Road / Tipton train station towards Coronation Gardens / Sedgley Road West.
There are also temporary traffic signals at some junctions – these only operate when work is taking place at the specific junction and they are not all in use at the same time.
We are working to keep disruption to a minimum and we apologise for any inconvenience. We thank everyone for their co-operation and patience as we safely complete these important town centre improvements, which are supported by UK Government funding.
Once complete, the improvements will benefit shoppers, businesses and residents, with reduced traffic speeds, more and better placed pedestrian crossings, new bus shelters with stops in better places, new paving and road surfaces, and better street lighting.
