Wow! Hello! It's been a while since I've posted anything!
I'm here today with an update on a post dating back to 15th May 2024 when I appealed for other victims of a man named Julian Midda (aka Midder), to come forward and either speak to myself in the first instance or preferably go straight to the police.
I'd been assaulted during an alternative health consultation. I reported it. He was arrested. I was keen to find other local victims. I'd googled his name after the assault... lesson learnt, always, always do your research and checks first, especially if you are meeting someone away from a medical facility (my 'consultation' was held at a 'trusted' customers' house!). What I found shocked me beyond belief. Arrests, court appearances, fines from the Osteopathic Society and convictions dating back to 1998! This excuse of a man was a well practiced slime ball predator. He was sold to me as an amazing man who had turned lives around!
I was amazed to quickly find other women, local to Tiverton, who had experienced the same and worse. Unfortunately only one was prepared to talk to the police and her assault was fairly historical and she hadn't reported it at the time. Eventually it was decided that there wasn't sufficient evidence to go to court... in other words my word against his. I was devastated.
This wasn't just about me though. As much as anything I wanted to stop him having access to other vulnerable women. I was very unwell when I booked my appointment and he took full advantage of my vulnerability. I went into shock immediately after and just couldn't process everything that had happened. I told my family that the appointment went well!! I finally broke down and told Nick what actually took place a couple of days later. I realised through therapy that I'd gone into complete denial as my unconscious brain processed what had actually happened to me.
With lack of evidence from other victims I told myself that I'd done as much as I possibly could and would just have to put it behind me. You never actually put something like this completely behind you, you just learn to live with it. I had a brilliant therapist who helped me process it all and lovely support from my family. My heart goes out to those who don't have support.
Fast forward to the tail end of last year when I received information saying that Wiltshire Police were looking to bring about a private prosecution against Midda. I can't begin to put into words how happy this made me. Nothing was guaranteed but at least something was happening.
Midda appeared in court this morning and a Sexual Risk Order was granted. He will also be monitored by MOSOVO.
RESULT!!!
Why am I sharing? To say that speaking out may not always bring the results you'd hoped for. But that sometimes speaking out will at some point bring about results that mean other victims will be spared.
Thank you Wiltshire Police, especially the officer I dealt with. I won't name her but she was brilliant.
